21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: 50%+ Christmas Gift Challenge on: December 08, 2006 09:23:09 AM
Jane Dough- We call that "chinese gift exchange" around here, but I agree, it's so much fun! Everyone was fighting over the candlewarmer and the boardgame "baulderdash". I ended up with the game, and I gotta say... best game ever!

Gift list update for me, since I'm a slacker-

Mom- Painting her garden bench (Has been planned, cannot complete until Christmas Eve)
Dad- [purchaced gift]
Sister- Hat, scarf, and scarfpin set (all invader zim themed. Hat completed, scarf and pin 90% complete), pocket scarf, fingerless gloves/armwarmers, 3 amigurumi
Pseudo-cousin- ?
Pseudo-uncle- tattoo design, pop-tab underwear
Aunt 1- green chennile scarf
Aunt 2- felt cat pomanders (she owns a groom & board)
Boyfriend- Jayne hat done but for earflaps... anything else I have time for.
Allie- mini-bunny amigurumi
Meghan- amineko (my own design)
John- sockmonkey (he loooooves these!)
Other Mother/Moms best friend- Not really a craft... but she gets one of these -> https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=115322.msg1101386#msg1101386 I have the yarn... just need to go to the Buck.

And last minute stocking stuffers which I won't even pretend to plan out.

...not much been done on my list, sad to say. Hope the rest of you are doing a bit better than I Grin

23  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Hand reaching out for Peace & Love. Art by Deana. on: December 06, 2006 07:55:41 AM
None taken Grin I just enjoy seeing my old work, or going back to something I didn't like and saying.. hey, it isn't so bad afterall. Personal preference.

Aw its so pretty and happy! I love the dove! The hand still has a 2-dimensional feel to it, but it is still a great improvement from the last hand I saw from you. (haha, yes... you have an art stalker >.>)
Don't worry too much about hands. Apart from feet, they're probably the most difficult thing to draw. I still draw little circles for hands... and I'm an art student  Lips sealed

Lastly, and as always... have more confidence in yourself and your artwork!! Don't throw sketches away, even if you hate them. keep them in a folder, shut them away from all human eyes, keep drawing, and in a month or so, go back to that folder. I did this over the weekend, and I was absolutely amazed! All my sketches from the past 3 years... it was great to see such improvement.
25  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Calendar 2007- every day is a holiday! on: December 05, 2006 09:41:10 PM
fake moustache day
wink at semi-strangers day
cartwheel day
reignite an old penpal day,
and 360 more!

Only 364 days on your calendar? Ha, sorry for being a smartie, I still think this is a brilliant idea (and I am so celebrating fake moustache day on the 27th!)
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: $%$%^#$ Chenille thick and quick. Help Please! on: December 04, 2006 09:06:02 PM
Ugh, I have 9 skeins of the stuff in a horrible slate blue colour and I can't get rid of it!
But it actually isn't so bad when worked in plain knit stitch for a scarf. I agree though, work with a needle size bigger than suggested.

29  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: hey junior high-high school kids... we know you all draw in class! on: December 03, 2006 12:00:49 PM
Man, my teachers used to know an assignment was mine by looking in the margins. Completely filled with doodles. Actually... I still draw on everything (college freshman here). If it holds still long enough, I'll be quick to bring out my pen.
I think I might post some of my older to present doodles... eventually Roll Eyes

(btw., I love the kitties and the highlighter doodles!!)
