There was a Shrinky Dink ideas book in the free box outside of our local thrift shop today, untouched. There were a dozen 9"x6" sheets of plastic.  I had been planning on ordering some anyway, so this made me very happy!

I like shredding red cabbage, carrots and cucumbers together and adding mint and cilantro.

This is amazing!  My favorite part is the moving knobs.

Um, rocks, rocks, rocks, in every possible way.  I am off to figure out how to make myself a Daphne blue Telecaster...Or a great big orange Gretsch.  Fantastic.

My favorite part is that the keys are close to life-size.  Nice touch.

I found it at my local craft store (I live in Alaska, so have no nearby big name stores), but I'm pretty sure it is Aleene's brand, and therefore should be easy to find at Michael's or Joann's.  It worked a trick! I haven't lost any yet (knock on wood).

Oooh, I found it - it's Aleene's Jewel-It, and it might be near the fabric glues, because apparently that's how they market it - as washable.  But the label says:
"Ideal for home decor projects, wearables, repairs, and nonfabrics such as glass and metal."

Hope this helps!

Rhinestone glue like Gem-tac is what I used to put the rhinestones on my bass.

Pics are up of the circus pin-up, finally!  I swear I was following along the whole time, I was just too busy gawking at everyone's coolness to post anything.

Here's the post:

Eleven months, twenty seven days left until next Halloween!

A week later I'm finally recovered enough to find and post pictures of my finished costume.  My band's theme this year was Rockabilly Circus, and to that end, I need to create a costume that looked both circus-y and pin-uppy.  I based the bodice on old Emma Domb prom dresses, added some satin Harlequin diamonds, made a huge poofy tutu, and wore stripey stockings.  I was pleased with the outcome.  See for yourself!

First, the top of my head:

My first fascinator!  The most fun thing to make.

Now, the costume before shaking it made all the sequins fall off the diamonds:

A good idea of the overall size of it, and a gratuitous pic of my bass that I blinged:

I don't have any good shots of the petal detail on the top of the bust, or of the tulle ruffle under the shelf of it, but nobody got that close all night.  By the end, there was a trail of blue and pink sequins where I had walked, and I had lost two of the leaves off the hat.  Those are sure signs of a successful evening!
