1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Llamas & a Cat on: July 15, 2010 09:52:18 PM
These are the first toys I've ever designed. I wrote the pattern from start to finish, and after a whole lot of fiddling around (there are 3 blue reject-llamas on the bookshelf next to me), I'm pretty pleased with how these came out.

I feel like I should make teeny tiny blankets to put over the llamas. Hee!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / WHAT following yo?! on: April 22, 2008 10:49:34 PM
I'm trying to start the Saturday market bag, and the first bit of directions is causing me a lot of rage.

Row 1 - k1 *yo, sl1, k1, yo, psso the knit st and following yo* repeat from *

What the heck am I supposed to be psso-ing?!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / print o the wave edging on: December 04, 2007 09:56:06 AM
I'm knitting a print o' the wave (picture on my ravelry, here), but I want to knit an entirely different edging. If I were to do a basic garter egde for 5 or so rows around my rectangle, how would I do the increases to have nice corners (I don't care round or right angles)?
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / lacy shawls? on: October 30, 2007 09:45:43 PM
I want to crochet a lacy shawl for  my mom for Christmas, and I like Muir from Knitty, but I'm nowhere near that skill level. In my crochet, though, I'm pretty confident.

So are there any nice lacy shawls out there for lace weight yarn in crochet? I've looked and it's a whole lotta mesh.
5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Plying with cotton thread on: May 10, 2007 09:44:13 PM
So I know how to set the twist in animal fibers, and have no problem with that. But! I want to ply some wool with cotton crochet thread. Do I need to do anything different to set the twist?

Same for other threads, I suppose. Like the invisible nylon threads and the such. Do I need to use hotter water?
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / First Plieds on: May 10, 2007 07:44:11 PM
This is my first attempt at plied yarn, made from Corriedale wool.

This is my second attempt, still on the spindle. I have to set the twist, and its made from merino wool.

Length is around 30 yards, so not really that much..... Undecided

i haven't decided on names yet.
7  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Lady Like Gloves Help? on: March 16, 2007 05:31:23 PM
Im only on row 3!

So, I've made the first 21 sc, then sc twice in the back of the next stitch (stitch 22), sc2tog throws me off completely. If I sc into the next stitch, that wont leave me with anymore stitches to crochet into? What do I do now?
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Japanese fabric website? on: January 30, 2007 01:00:18 PM
There was I link I found once on craftster to a website that sold imported fabrics from japan and other countries. I remember that one of the designs was little orange goldfish on a white background, also there was a section of dots fabric and the like.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about or am I crazy?
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Mini Supplies Swap? on: January 25, 2007 04:32:09 PM
The search function isn't working, but I haven't seen a swap yet for mini supplies.

We could trade Sandwich sized zip lock bags stuffed with the small supplies. Things like sequins, seed beads, embroidery thread, cell phone straps, felt scraps, lace, etc.
It would also be a good way for me to get rid of some of my extra stuff! I have too much.  Grin

And if there is already a swap like this, someone point me in its direction!
10  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Stenciling with Vinyl? on: October 06, 2006 01:38:09 PM
I've done a bit of freezer-paper stenciling and so far my stencils have turned out ok.

However, one of my friend's mother owns a trophy/sign making store, and they have a bunch of sticky vinyl that people use to stick on windows and such that they can give me. Has anyone else used this to stencil with? What were your results?
