1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / The Kiwi Set on: October 09, 2006 02:46:04 PM
I made this set for a girl my sister babysits. She's a complete sweetheart and is turning 12 so I wanted to make something simple and delicate, but not little girlish, so, for Kiwi:

Sorry for blurry pics. Thanks for looking!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Five bracelet on: October 09, 2006 02:41:18 PM
Hi everyone! I recently got into beading and wanted to post a few of my projects. This was the first piece I made, a bracelet

A close-up action shot:

It's kind of a random assortment of beads...of course, it still took me five hours to lay out, not counting the one or two times I dropped a strand and lost beads, doh! I call it the five bracelet because it reflects my tendency to gravitate twords stuff that says "Hi, I'm five." Thanks for checking it out!
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Camel God Pocket Shrine on: April 14, 2006 11:37:16 AM
I made my first pocket shrine!

I made it for my boyfriend for his birthday in March. To give a little bit of background: He loves camels. There is a park near his house that has a giant camel in the playground area and when we were in high school our group of friends would make "pilgrimages" to The Shrine of the Golden Camel. When he went away to college he set up a mini shrine in his dorm room since he couldn't visit the real one on a regular basis. After losing touch for a few years he and I started dating in January and on our 3rd or 4th date we made a trip to the camel for nostalgia's sake. So, I decided to make this for him for his birthday, so that no matter where he goes in his life, he'll always have a part of the shrine with him.

This is the top of the shrine, I decoupaged it with pages out of rolling stone. I cut the letters for his name out of a Ketel One ad, and all the camels came from Camel ads.

Here is the inside of the shrine. I made the camel out of sculpey, my first time working with it. I did the Camel God using marbles and a really pretty brown/gold satin embroidered material that you can't see well. The bottom of the shrine is lined with sand that I "borrowed" from the actual shrine. The camel gave her permission since it was for her boy.  Grin The front says "A more mellow camel".

Here is the bottom, another Camel Ad! I added "Emo Hero", because sometimes I call him my Emo Boy when his hair does this cute little thing.

I'm pretty proud of how it turned out, and he loves it which makes it that much better. After I gave it to him he kept saying "I have a pocket shrine!" He carries it with him everywhere and sets it up on his desk at work everyday.

Thanks for checking out my project!

4  California / California: South / Crafting for a Cause in SD? on: August 19, 2005 03:57:12 PM
Hello all!

I was just checking out the Crafting for a Cause board but was thinking I would like to find something local to start off with. Does anyone know of any groups in the San Diego area who are in need of some crafty goodness? I sew and am in the progress of learning to knit. I'd love to be able to make something that someone could get some use out of.

Mucho thanks!
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Sex and the City gift on: July 06, 2005 12:43:31 PM
Hello everyone!

My best friend's birthday is this month and she loves Sex and the City. I got the idea to do a themed gift here on the boards, and as part of it I am going to have 4 parts of the gift, one box representing each girl. I've had no problems with the Carrie and Samantha boxes, but Charlotte and Miranda are proving to be a little more trouble. Do any of you lovely crafty ladies have any ideas that you would like to share?

Much thanks for reading!
