1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Reading a pattern on: September 15, 2005 06:27:40 PM
I learned to crochet by pretty much sitting at my grandmother's knee and watching her do it.   I lost intrest until about 4 years ago, when I weird illness put me in bed for 3 weeks and TV was driving me nuts.   So, now I can crochet, passably.   The problem lies that I cannot follow a pattern to save my hooks!   I can look at simple things and come close to replicating it, but I just cannot seem to figure patterns out.   I know all the symbols and abbreviations.  If I don't know a stitch I look it up and follow those directions, but nothing ever seems to come out right.   Anyone have a similar problem or have a tip that can keep me on track?  I'm desperate to make a flying Piggie!!  And that star blanket.   Bad things happened when I tried the star blanket Shocked

Anyway!  Thanks for reading!
