1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: t-shirt quilt for my daughter on: July 19, 2007 12:04:54 AM
It looks great! I really need to make one of these for my husband. I have a feeling the colors will be a bit more boring on his, though!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / What do you embroider on? I need ideas! on: July 07, 2007 10:00:40 AM
So I'm just getting the hang of embroidery and I want to embroider everything in sight...er, if I could just think of anything useful to embroider. I've seen a lot of tea towels, and I've stitched on some of those towels with the aida bands, but this seems so impractical to me - my kitchen and hand towels get such a beating, I don't want to waste the embroidery! Same for baby bibs and onesies - having no experience quite yet - are these really readily washable? Here are some other ideas I've come up with so far:

- pillowcases
- squares to make into a quilt or use in other sewing projects
- framed on a wall
- liner for a bread basket (sort of a variation on the tea towel that gets less wear)
- decorate front of photo album or journal

Any other ideas? I would love to hear them!

What a lovely idea for a curtain! And the pillows are great - I especially like the long round one (there is a name for that kind of pillow, right? I can't think of it, though).

And, thanks for all the how-to tips along the way - I have got to try this. Also, I have a little one on the way so it's always good to hear that one can get crafty ventures done during naptime...
5  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Sweet Pea Shawl in green on: May 19, 2007 09:28:28 AM
It looks great! Just wanted to chime in and say I like it without the fringe too.
6  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Second fat bottom with lining observation on: May 19, 2007 09:27:03 AM

Thanks for sharing the lining tip - I was wondering about how to do it. Did you machine-stitch it in or sew by hand?
7  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Modified Knot Ugly Shrug - A Cardigan! on: May 19, 2007 09:24:44 AM
It looks great! I love the color you chose. I am with you on the uselessness of shrugs and actually had the thought of modifying this particular pattern - so thanks for sharing how you did it!
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Wowza! Comics bookcase! on: April 28, 2007 10:13:46 AM

I would love to do this but comic books are, ahem, sacred around here (no ripped ones lying around...).
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Coming out...of my funk. Two hats. on: April 28, 2007 10:07:06 AM
That's funny, I always find a hat or two will bring me out of a knitting funk, too! Love the yarn you used.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Gray cashmere monkies on: April 28, 2007 10:04:54 AM
Those are BEAUTIFUL! And what a good idea to look for thrifted cashmere for socks. I've been having trouble finding cashmere that is (1) sock weight and (2) doesn't cost an arm and a leg!
