11  Painted glass mugs (pic heavy) in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by rhinoceroses on: April 20, 2019 07:34:38 AM
I ogled at mugs like these on etsy for the longest time before finally trying it out as part of a mermaid-themed gift basket. It's super fiddly work but I was pretty happy with the results! (please excuse the super cluttery progress pictures)

(bonus - the gift baskets the best ones went into)

I kept the first "tester" for myself. The paint is apparently fairly dishwasher-proof and still going strong 2 years later!

12  Crib sheets from vintage sheets in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by rhinoceroses on: April 20, 2019 07:01:11 AM
Probably on the bleeding edge of "reconstructed," but there were some extra steps involved to make the most out of some gorgeous vintage sheets from PerfectlyBohemian for nursery linens! These started out as a twin-sized set with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillowcase. With a little bit of creative patchwork, I was able to get two full sized crib sheets from the flat sheet. They completely transformed my visions for the nursery, too...I had envisioned everything being dark with lots of deep blue and pops of color, but the print on these is space-ey AND light and bright. They make me so happy!

(bonus belly shot - this was right after the sheets were finished)

I also covered a bit from the pillowcase with fusible vinyl and made a wipable changing pad cover. It's not quite "finished" since the edges are just folded under, but the vinyl wrinkles after machine washing (which I try to do now and then) and has to be re-ironed every time. Also, after making...6...crib sheets of various sizes/fabrics (baby was in daycare for a while and needed mini crib sheets, separate post soon), I'm slightly burnt out on elastic for the moment Smiley

13  Accordion Wallets in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by rhinoceroses on: April 06, 2019 11:49:12 AM
~Somewhere~ I have a picture of the entire set I made for our meetup group's mass production swap a couple of years back (which was so much fun!). Unfortunately I haven't been able to locate it, so here are some photos of two of them Smiley

I saw a pattern for this type of wallet on etsy and thought I could figure it out based on the picture. It's a bit of fabric origami and a fun fat quarter project! Everyone got 2 coordinating fabrics. The pockets are a good size for teabags, individually wrapped wipes, cards, etc. Mine was the trial run and I rotated the velcro piece for the rest to make it slightly more adjustable.

16  Knit and crochet bunny blanket in Knitting: Completed Projects by rhinoceroses on: April 03, 2019 11:17:56 AM
This was a birthday gift for a friend's baby a while back - something stroller-sized for their daily walks. With pictures from the recipient because I never remember to take them myself Smiley

The main body was knitted up on my USM, bunnies hand-manipulated knit cables with crochet popcorn tails, and a crocheted scallop border.

17  Re: Crochet Shawl-Along (Formerly the Virus Shawl-Along) in Crochetalongs by rhinoceroses on: April 03, 2019 06:36:46 AM
Thanks for the mention, craftylittlemonkey! I think that may have actually been my first virus shawl, and now it's one of my favorite things to whip up (especially with self-striping yarns). I keep the chart permanently on my phone Smiley

(with bonus bubble tea...this purple one went to my mother-in-law!)

This challenge sounds like fun! Might have to do some stash busting Wink

18  Re: Assemblage Art Swap 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by rhinoceroses on: April 12, 2017 03:56:51 PM
I received this lovely specimen from cmarion3! A rare giant firefly!

My favorite angle of the box - it amuses me to no end!

He did try to escape by dislodging a couple of the pins (but still perfectly intact from the engineering feat that was his shipping container); I couldn't resist the opportunity to take him out for his own photoshoot.

I can't decide if the eyes or the wings are my favorite part! They're reminiscent of cicadas we have in our region. I actually just lost a pinned one to a cleaning accident a couple of weeks ago, so I'm thrilled to have an even more beautiful replacement!

He's just perfect! Thank you, cmarion3! Smiley

I was stuck on 2 completely different directions and had to work on something else for a while to clear my head, but now I'm much more confident in my choice and happy to be moving forward!

No teaser photos yet that wouldn't give the whole thing away, but here's my craft palate cleanser:
