1  Framed Om Sweet Om Buddha, a Meditation on Patience in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by unicornsrpeople2 on: February 21, 2016 02:13:51 PM
Years ago I bought a beginners embroidery kit from Sublime Stitching, completed a couple of projects, then kind of forgot about it. Recently I've been itching to get back into embroidery, so I decided to start by finally using one of the patterns I bought so long ago.

I used the Buddha's face from the Om Sweet Om pattern (still available here http://sublimestitching.com/products/om-sweet-om-embroidery-patterns but it looks like the pattern has been revised since I bought mine).

Here it is completed and framed.

I did a TON of french knots on this project, which was great practice since I've only done one before many years ago. I used the tutorial on http://sublimestitching.com/pages/tutorials which was super helpful. I should have read her instructions on satin stitch too, since I kind of messed it up on the earrings and top hair piece, but it's not very noticeable.

This was also my first time attempting to frame a piece of embroidery. I'm not sure if I did it correctly, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I just used an old picture frame I had on hand that I thought would complement the piece.

Some photos of it in progress.

Here is a close up of the hair showing that it was all done in french knots.

Thanks for looking!
