1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / "Sweet Sixteen" Birthday Gift Ideas? on: February 26, 2008 01:56:02 PM
My best friend is turning sixteen next month, and since "sweet 16" is a bit more special than most, I'd like to do something more for her birthday this year.
One idea I had was to give her a little something each day for the sixteen days leading up to her birthday, and giving her my "main" gift on her actual birthday, but I'm not sure what I could give her each of those days. But, I'm open to any ideas (outside of the 16 days idea)!
Her birthday is in March, she's Puerto Rican and loves to dance, cook, and scrapbook. That's not a lot of details, I guess, but I really just need some general ideas. I thought of making her a scrapbook, but her and I have made several of those for our friends, so I'd like to do something different?

Sorry for the length, and thanks so much for any help!  Smiley
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Where to find kawaii Japanese fabrics in the U.S.? on: February 23, 2008 10:17:12 PM
I've been trying to locate some cute, Japanese fabrics, such as these:

in the United States. I've checked out reprodepot.com, but currently they don't have quite what I'm looking for. Do any of you have any other places I could possibly find them at? Thanks so much, and sorry if this has been posted before!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Oh, just another zippered pouch.. on: August 07, 2007 02:07:43 PM
I've made a few zippered pouches (using e.r.i.k.a.'s lovely tutorial on here), but this is the first one that I'm actually proud of. I'm finally getting the zipper right.

Made from some cotton fabric I found at Jo-Ann's last year, complete with a removable teal fabric covered button!

And, while I'm posting, an owl pin I've been working on -

He's not quite finished yet, though  Wink

4  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Fill A Coin Purse Round 6 - 1 Angel FOUND! on: February 17, 2007 07:00:02 PM
One Angel needed for the Fill A Coin Purse Swap Round 6

Original thread: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=102549.0
Gallery: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=111453.0

This swap ended quite some time ago, but for some reason, Babizzle never got an angel. So I am posting to finally allow her to finish this swap!

Here's some of Babizzle's info:
What kind of purse you'd you like/dislike to receive? (knitted, crocheted, sewed, recon, etc.): I'd prefer a sewn or reconned purse, if possible.
Favorite colors: Black, white, pink, red, purple - anything punky!
Colors you dislike: I'm not too fond of uberflowery patterns or pastels.
Favorite symbols (stars, hearts, spades, etc): Lots! Stars, hearts, spades, bold flowers, stripes, polkadots, most things!
Symbols you dislike: Crosses

If interested, please PM me so I can send you the rest of the info. Thanks!

*And sorry Babizzle for this taking so long!

**Angel has been found, thanks to all who offered!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey - project ideas? on: November 22, 2006 02:52:49 PM
For my Comm. Arts class, we needed to read a "classic novel" and do a report and project on the book. I read Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, and have been thinking nonstop of what to do for my project and I'm stuck!

By project, I mean something you make to represent the book, such as a diarama.

But I want to make something crafty! So for anyone who has read the book, do you have any ideas?
Even if you have not read it, if you have any project ideas, they would help!

Thanks  Cheesy
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / lots of bobby pins! on: October 27, 2006 07:06:48 PM
I made these for a craft fair. The first eight are "holiday" themed - red, white, and green. Mostly buttons.

These next eight are made from clear glass marbles and random magazine clippings

Smiley Comments always appreciated!
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Best products for a craft fair - please help! on: September 25, 2006 02:31:07 PM
My friend and I have a booth for a local craft fair in December. We've only done one other craft fair, and at that one, we were only selling one specific product. This year, we want to sell a bunch of different things.

We both can sew pretty well. I was thinking of a few things..
- coin purses
- pins
- purses
- jewelry

For all of you who have done craft fairs, what items seem to sell well? And, since this one will be right before the holidays, any good holiday themed crafts?

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / 15th birthday - ideas? on: September 13, 2006 09:59:59 AM
My 15th birthday is in mid-october. At first I was going to have a halloween/birthday party, but then I didn't know if my birthday was too far from Halloween to do that?

Anyway, I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive and original idea. Not the typical makeover & sleepover thing. Something fun that everyone will remember.

There will probably be about 8 girls. Any ideas would help a lot!
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / most popular button size on: September 08, 2006 04:29:40 PM
I'm interested in buying a Badge-A-Minit handheld button maker, since I dont have the money to buy a large one. (Are there any other companies that have cheaper ones?)

Anyway, back to my point - what do you think the most popular/best selling size for buttons is?

Thanks for any help!
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Meaningful gifts for friends on: August 28, 2006 06:38:38 PM
I know its still a bit early, but I'm trying to get a head start on my xmas presents this year, especially if I'm going to make them.

I want to make something for a couple of my best friends. Something that really means something and shows how much they mean to me. I was thinking of a mini scrapbook type thing, but maybe something a little more unique? Any ideas?

I also heard the idea of getting a dictionary and highlighting all the words that remind you of your friend. I think that would be a special gift. What do you all think?

Sorry for the ranting. Thanks in advance!  Cheesy
