Where'd you get that material? I really like it. It's shiny without looking shoddy and that can be difficult to find.

If you want to find it the term you want to look for is mystique, that's what that pattern is called in the spandex world.  That specific material is a black/black mystique and you could grab it from Spandex World http://spandexworld.com/c3/catalog/browse/136 or Spandex House http://www.spandexhouse.com/products.php?navId=43&navId2=149&navName=Hologram  Pretty much all holo spandex in the US comes from one main wholesaler, I've ordered that particular fabric from both of those companies and there is no difference, I just use whatever company has the most in stock when I do an order Smiley

this was fascinating to read, i had no idea. Thank you!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: sew a swimsuit from a t shirt? on: July 08, 2016 06:16:19 PM
yes, zig the elastic; cut it a bit smaller than the opening and stretch it to fit.

you say you aren't swimming, so the way tee shirt material becomes see-through when wet isn't important to you, right?

thank you. No, it will be to wear out and about . I just can't deal with body poppers at all! it sounds counterintuitive possibly but a swimsuit would be easier for me to change in and out of. plus i could wear it outside in summer

it's dancewear material from a local shop. thank you! I agree. I'm amazed at how luxurious it looks for the amount i paid for it.

My very first thought was that your dress looked like the dress Dana wears in Ghostbusters- and THEN i saw your post title.  Grin

Great job!

Haha YES!

I watched the movie as an adult recently and came away like ... "so, getting posessed by a demon is a good idea because you end up wearing much hotter outfits?" I can't wear orange to save my life, but I'm really obsessed with tracking that whole luxe, decadent 1980s vibe back to ancient times in silhouettes and cuts. And I'm always on the lookout for a material that's nice to the touch.

Hi guys,

first samples made of this awesome two-piece. Consists of a batwing top and a tube skirt. Made in holographic black / multi foil jersey. I loves it. It's gorgeous for any event but also comfy to dance in -- not to mention my Aspergers ass cannot handle uncomfortable fabrics at ALL so it passes my super sensitive skin test.

Do you like? I will wear it out with some heeled mesh ankle boots and a gold chain belt I think .
