21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Lap Quilts For All Swap- Round 4! CLOSED! on: March 08, 2009 03:54:36 PM
thanks for posting that whoopdedoo_5.
She's right, I don't think I'll be organizing another round of this swap. I am really busy with school and don't feel like I can really commit the time I'd need to in this swap. I felt like it was kind of overwhelming with 3 groups going on at once, so I thought about taking it down to 2. One group is how this swap started out (and worked very well) so it might be nice to kick it old school. I am going to do the first round of feedback tomorrow, so make sure to get any new information to your group leaders so you and your group members can possibly get feedback tomorrow.

Actually Sandy, my mailman is great. The mailman that used to work on my boyfriend's block was so loved that when he retired, all the people in the neighboorhood threw him a huge party! In my experience when things go missing, it's almost always the people that sort the mail that are the problem. My boyfriend had a few things go missing, so the formentioned awesome mailman started an investigation and they ended up firing a bunch of people in the sorting center that were stealing gift cards and birthday money. Crazy!
Anyway, you're right. We shouldn't blame the mail carriers. With so many packages one or two is bound to get lost in the shuffle (sadly!)

So far I am wanting everything that has been posted! I especially like the idea of the embroidered kitchen towels. My ideas so far:
-etched votive candle holders (I have all of the stuff, but haven't tried it yet! I'll have to do a test run)
-more fruit loops soap, but this time only send one soap and a washcloth because shipping was pretty expensive last time
-wristlets like this : http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=5459101 but I don't want people to get too pouched-out in these swaps (I will take down the link if it's not allowed)

I don't eat the skin off potatoes...unless they're covered in melted cheese and bacon bits. If I bake a potato, I just eat the guts and leave the skin behind.

I got my block for 1b1g1k2 today.
I am missing John's but i think the mailman stole it. I still have to make my block and I am thinking of remaking the block John made because i really liked it. Which pattern did you use?

It makes me sad that the block is missing. If I was a mailman, I might steak John's work too! Tongue Kidding, of course...

I'm glad you like your fabric, onegroovyday! I forgot to tell you that the 2 smallest pieces (the green and pink ones) were SUPPOSED to be fat quarters but they are smaller--like 15x22. My roommate picked them up for me at the fabric store and I don't know where the mis-communication happened, but somehow they're smaller than they're supposed to be  Huh I honestly think that the shop owner intentionally tried to short her because my roommate is French and is used to meters, not yards and didn't even notice the difference when I noticed. ANYWAY- the point of my long-winded explanation is that if you're making something that calls for a FQ, be careful that you'll have enough. whew!

Onegroovyday and I agreed to swap a bigger package and boy did she deliver!
The fabrics came wrapped up so nicely and labelled (with laminated labels!) as 'washed' and 'not washed.' SO nice! I asked for greens and browns for a quilt I'm working on and she definitely helped me out there. My favorite fabric is the red and white hippos though; they're so cute Smiley

Thank you onegroovyday!

I've sent out all of my blocks.  I am still waiting on 5 blocks between the two groups.  Not too bad.  I am actually working on the quilt top from round 2 right now.  The one from this round will be after a few baby quilts that are on the to do list.  Smiley

I'm doing the quilting on my quilt top from last round also! I can't wait to show you guys! I know John will like it since his quilt is her brother quilt Wink lol I love giving quilts away for gifts but I think I am going to have a hard time parting with this one! Smiley I can't wait for next round to start. I think I'll only be in 2 groups for the next go around though...I also think I am going to do click n ship on the comp because I hate when the post office gets pissy with me, and since its a small town people know when I go in there! lol.

A note about click and ship...you can only do priority mail and up from USPS.com. I even called and whined to the customer service guy and they still wouldn't let me. Angry BUT, you can weasel around it by shipping through paypal. You used to only be able to ship things that you pay paid for through paypal, but they have a new function called 'batch shipping' or something close to that where you can ship first class. It was acually a lot easier than shipping through USPS.com, too. And remember, delivery confirmation only costs .18 online versus the .70 in real life and delivery confirmation is required next round! Smiley

The last 3 days have been an assualt on my mailbox! I've now received all but 2 blocks.

We have 2 swappers who haven't send out yet (but are in communication) but otherwise, all of the blocks should be en route or to their destinations. By the end of this week most of the blocks should be received, so the group leaders will start tracking down the blocks after then. Do let myself or your group leader know if you have any questions, otherwise keep updating us when you get your blocks in the mail.
