51  Re: Postage Stamp Quilt Squares Swap! in The Swap Gallery by FlashleyAshley on: April 05, 2008 10:44:33 PM
Here's my quilt so far!

I think I'm going to do the star pattern posted a few pages back. I also think I might make a baby quilt, cause I am already sick of sewing these tiny tiny squares!

52  Eiffel Tower bag- Butterick 4822 in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by FlashleyAshley on: April 05, 2008 03:40:45 PM
My crafty pen pal Marie (athenamat) sent me this pattern [Butterick 4822, I did view C] last week in a supply swap. In an effort to use up some of my fabric stash, I unearthed some material from about 5 years ago. For the shell, I used some Eiffel Tower fabric (duh!) and the lining is teal with some fancy looking silhouettes of ladies walking dogs and the like. I used the shell fabric for the base of the lining and the interior of the zippered pocket, but I don't know if I'm in love with that.

I followed the pattern for the most part, but I did make a few little changes. I used plastic in the base instead of cardboard so I could wash it, and added a zippered pocket and a keyring in the lining. I carry a lot of junk in my bags, so I need all the organization I can get.

The pattern wasn't difficult, but I had forgotten how much I hate gathering. That said, I will probably make another one for my sister's birthday.

53  Re: Spring Cleaning Fill A Box Round 7 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by FlashleyAshley on: March 31, 2008 05:37:15 PM
I got my box today from Athenamat! We're almost penpals at this point, signing up for the same swaps and getting partnered up again. hah!

She sent me a bunch of cool fabric- the ones in the back are like a heavy linen or burlap and such cool patterns. She also sent me some awesome fabric scraps for my postage stamp quilt. And the patches! I've been bugging my sister for boyscout patches (she's the den mother) but now I got one of my own. yesss.

I also got a bunch of books and stuff! I was opening the purse pattern to cut it out, and realized she'd already cut out the pattern view I wanted. score! I'm also kind of in love with the bendable ruler. And the magnet paper! and the lace collar that I'm going to use on the BuiltByWendy top that I'm making.

And finally, ribbons and bows and yarn, oh my! As MichelleAmes found out, I am an absolute ribbon hound and my addiction has been fed. Two HUGE spools of ribbon! I also got a dress to recon, hemp, and lots of other cool  stuff.

I have three more packages to post (grieney, critterpants & ursuladiamond)

these are from grieney (loving that green paisley in the middle!):

and these are from critterpants (the green polkadots are flipping cute) and ursuladiamond (the white with the bows reminds me of childhood Cheesy):

and I joined the club of a fluffy dog getting in the pictures. I'm at my parent's house for Easter dinner and look who tried to sneak in the pictures...

edited to add the squares from iloveoctopus! It's funny, cause she sent me some fabrics that I used to have and loved (the cherry print and checkers..I made a quilt of them in high school.) She's obviously got great taste Cheesy

Today I recieved from Curlygirl15 and Maezen (both personal swaps). This made getting my water bill slightly less traumatic!  Tongue

Curlygirl15 sent an awesome selection of red/teal/black&white and I am so happy with them! What a fantastic stash you must have.  My quilt for my living room is going to be fabulous.

And here's my squares from Maezen. If you can see in the bottom lefthand corner, there is a square with geese on them. aaaaand I love it. They're all awesome. I can't wait to start sewing.

Today was a goooood postal day. I got my squares from PlumCrafty, Lady4Feet AND ThreadOrYarn!

These are from Lady4Feet (I'm on a teal and red kick, and she obliged!):

These are from PlumCrafty (she wrapped them up in a cute little bundle that I ripped open before I could take a picture) and ThreadOrYarn (I love the black&white clocks one the most):

and finally, these are from a personal swap with athenamat. They're just tutu cute:

I hope I got all the right names with the right squares. Thanks ladies, I love them!

I got my package from Sarasvati on the weekend and FINALLY have a minute to post the pictures! First of all, I totally scored on getting the perfect partner. We're both total Nintendo girls, so it worked out pretty well!
She sent me an amazing package, including:
tetris magnets! They're tiny needlepoint (cross stitch?) and they're adorable. They fit together, so I can play tetris on the fridge. Which I do.

a Cooking Mama bracelet! I have an office job, and I play Cooking Mama ALL THE TIME there. She made buttons out of the adorable images from the game, and then mounted the buttons onto blank bracelet. It's fantastic, I love it so much.

A Mario block! My boyfriend has already stolen this for a rear view mirror ornament. It's a 3d question mark block, and it's made of perler beads. It's super cute. I'll have to steal it back at Christmas so I can put it on the tree Smiley

and finally, I've saved the best for last... She made me a hand-bound Mario notebook! It's made of super soft corderoy, and she cut teeeeny squares of felt and handstitched them on in the shape of Mario! It looks pixelated and so cute. It has tons of pages, all  different colors, for me to write on. I'm a compulsive list maker and doodler, and this is such a step up from the little crappy notebooks I always use. I love it.

Anyway. I totally scored on this swap! I got the greatest partner, who didn't even get mad when I had to send out a few days late after my doggie ran away. I love everything, I couldn't have gotten a better package!

I got my package from StarLisa today, woohoo!

The 1/2 yards are sweet little daisy duck cloth and black with pink polka dots [which will be used tonight I'm sure]
She also sent 3 FQ's: light pink with silver glitter stars, shimmery purple with pretty cherry blossom-y branches and my favorite, dancing skeletons.

I love it all, thanks so much StarLisa! You totally nailed what I needed Smiley
