1  Super hot New Kids on the Block shirt!!!!!!! You know you're jealous! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tinsil74 on: August 27, 2005 02:05:47 PM
I got a crap load of free clothes from a yardsale....3 shirts were new kids on the block!   I actually saw them when I was 5 and one of the shirts was from the tour! Woo hoo!

The shirt looks really bunchy in the back.  It's sewn pretty well, my butt is just too big for the shirt to be pulled straight.

I did try to make it look raw with a little bit of crappy topstitching and the un hemed bottom.

Comments/suggestions appreciated!

2  I took scissors to my closet...AKA 5 band shirts girlyfied (pic heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tinsil74 on: August 10, 2005 06:19:49 PM
Woohoo. So I have been on the ball, 5 shirts in 3 days.  I haven't worn these shirts in years, because they were large men's shirts and they looked really fumpy.  They aren't the most creative, but I'm new to reconstructing.  I'm pretty proud of how they turned out.  Excuse my strange expressions, I just woke up from a nap.

I had to handsew all the eyelet tape, because I had no idea how to do it on my sewing machine.  Zipper foot wouldn't work.  If any one has any idea how to sew it, please please let me know.

Constructive criticisim is very welcome.

Close up of microphone

Close up of side.  Notice that the record arm has an actual needle

Close up of the record

I started with an jar lid and added beads. The top of the jar lid was covered by a black circle from a floppy disk, which made a great record.  I cut arm of a pair of glow in the dark glasses to make the arm on my record player. The microphone was made from a stick, sculpy, and fabric.  Found a picture of Steven that I liked, painted it,and added 3D lips.  When I drive in my car he moves to the music.

4  Walk This Way Shoe, image heavy in CHALLENGE 4 ENTRIES by tinsil74 on: July 31, 2005 03:13:36 PM
I must start of by saying I LOVE AEROSMITH.  I have seen  them 5 times in concert so far.

There is nothing more 80s than scarves and the finest women's clothing.

I first painted an old shoe with acrylic paint.  Then I wote the entire lyrics to Walk This Way.  Painted fabric scraps to make the scarves.   It didn't seem complete, so I added shoe stickers.  The stickers made me think of the old dance step charts, so on the bottom I made my own little dance chart of the grapevine.  If anyone has ever seen Steven Tyler dance it's amazing...and he always does a grapvine with a jump or high kick at the end.

I am an Aerosmith fanatic and I was watching the Run DMC Walk This Way video the other day and that inspired me.  The close up on the Adidas without shoe laces was when the lightbulb hit.

Speaking of lightbulbs, I have decided to add christmas lights so I now have a funky lamp in my room.

5  New girl. Picture heavy. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by tinsil74 on: July 24, 2005 07:25:23 PM
Hi, I'm new to posting, but not to the site.  I have been looking at stuff on here for a few months and I have been inspired.

This was made from two shirts.

This was made from brown curtains and an old skirt.  Totally made up this pattern as i went along.

This is my guns n roses hoodie.  I got the stencil off off this site. It used to be a plain white long sleeve shirt!

Goodwill beautified,

i hope these pictures turn out ok.  If anybody has any questions about how I did something.  I'll do my best to answer.
