11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: The IT Crowd Swap R2 - (Signups 4/1-4/15) Sendouts 28th May on: May 16, 2010 08:18:45 PM
I'd been hesitating to post until I'd actually finished something but now I have two items under my belt that I absolutely adore so I feel not so behind. Cheesy Just a couple finishing touches and I'm really hoping to send on time, which unfortunately has been hard for me in the past. But this time is different! ^_^

Got a few things almost done, but I'm trying some new crafts so I'm nervous to just jump in! Grin Guess I'll have to some time this week.

I can't remember where I heard of Cradle of Filth but I did know it was a real band, I had to convince my dad it was when we watched that episode!

Tonight I'm going to start on my first item, still got to get a couple of supplies before I can make everything. Smiley
14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Miyazaki-san Movie Swap (Spirited Away; Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo) on: April 17, 2010 02:51:36 AM
I would want to get in on that, I had a blast during my last Miyazaki swap, got some pretty sweet loot. Cheesy And I would love to make/get something Ponyo-inspired! It's my new favorite Ghibli film.
15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Kate Beaton's Fat Pony on: April 17, 2010 02:49:16 AM
AWESOME I love the fat pony! Grin Kate Beaton is just hilarious, I've got a copy of her book and my family and I read from it all the time.

Well you didn't defeat the wizard but you made him sort of depressed. THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH.

Nice work!

I'm so excited! Can't wait to start dorkily crafting, with extra geek thrown in for good measure. Cheesy

Thanks for all the lovely comments!

The decoupage was a lot of fun to do, your girls might enjoy helping you with it javamama, depending on how old they are. Smiley
19  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Yellow Patchwork Desk w/ Mod Podge mayhem! on: March 28, 2010 08:49:34 PM
My niece is doing awesome in her kindergarten classes through e-school and I thought that warranted a place to work. Smiley So after hunting for a good deal on a new one, I saw this white, dirty desk on craigslist that I just knew had tons of potential and I snagged it for $20! She picked out paint, knobs and paper to decoupage the top with and I got to work sanding, priming and cleaning.

After a few days of work painting the entire thing in KILLZ I brought it over to my sister's place and we made our first attempt with Mod Podge. I was covered in the stuff by the time we were done and it was definitely a learning experience. We layered different sized squares of paper all over the desktop and smothered them with Mod Podge, which I ended up smushing around with my hands because our sponge handle broke. X) There were plenty of lumps, wrinkles and bubbles but after another coat of Mod Podge and a coat of acrylic sealant I think it's a pretty tough surface. Anyway, my niece loves it and it's really inspired her to write and draw more than she did before. Smiley

One of the knobs is missing because I lost one of the screws, this has since been remedied.

Her tastes are all over the place, from robots and skeletons to flowers to butterflies!

She likes it more than this photo lets on!
20  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Dinosaurs and animals drinking tea and practicing good dental hygiene! on: February 03, 2010 03:58:12 PM
Thanks for the comments! The boards work great as an alternative to pricey canvases and the wood takes paint really well. Each board costs about 2.50 so I think it's a steal.
