41  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man on: September 28, 2005 09:43:08 AM
I'd like to make a Spider-Man costume. But I don't want one of those cheap "I'm a Halloween costume" costumes. I want one that looks like Spider-Man. I've checked all the usual pattern companies--Simplicity, Butterick, McCall's--and Googled. I guess (maybe because of licensing) the pattern doesn't exist? Undecided

Has anyone made a Spider-Man costume? Any ideas? Huh
42  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How to make a skirt? on: August 14, 2005 05:13:41 PM
Can anyone help me? I am making a pirate costume for my teenage daughter and, true to my own procrastinating form, I have waited until the week she needs it to start! Here's what I want to do... I want to make a sort of pull on or wrap skirt with uneven hem. Trouble is, the fabric she bought is striped. It looks layered and pieced together, so it has potential. But I seem to remember my home ec teacher scolding me for buying striped fabric for a skirt.... ("You'll look like a barber pole!!!")

Two months ago, when she asked for this, I felt confident I could do it. Now, I'm slightly intimidated by the memory of old Mrs. G from home ec class.

Thanks!
