11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Braided Scarf on: March 28, 2008 06:59:52 PM
At the beginning of winter, my daughter (who gets most of my knitted items anyway) expressed a desire to have millions of scarves. "Scarves are my thing." She said.

Lucky for her, I like to knit scarves. I knitted probably a dozen for her. Fluffy fun fur scarves, lacey mohair scarves, beaded scarves, a beautiful Noro scarf, and more.

Anyway, I wanted to do something different, so I made a braided scarf. For some reason, that photo doesn't want to upload. So this one is the one I made for myself.

Yeah, I know. I got a little weird when the camera started going. Don't judge me.

I posted pix of my daughter's scarf, and also one I made for a coworker on my blog. There's a pattern of sorts, as well, if you'd like to check it out. It's kind of an any yarn sort of pattern, so the possibilities are endless.

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My First Knit & My Most Recent Knit on: March 24, 2008 07:14:38 PM
I love to see all the firsts here on Craftster. I remember my first, and that feeling of "Oh wow. I did that!"  Grin I gave my first knit away (to my boyfriend) and he was as excited as I was.

Anyway, that was a looooong time ago. (Seriously. I have children older than I was when I made this scarf.)

Well, I just finished a new scarf for my husband (same guy, 24 years later). Here is closeup of the cable stitch.

Details on the blog, if you're interested in the long version of that story. Plus a picture of the two scarves, side by side.

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I've been wearing this shawl all evening... on: February 21, 2008 07:54:30 PM
I keep saying I won't ever make a shawl for myself (though I've made tons of them for others, including Meg's annual prom shawl) because I just have no place to wear a shawl.

But I completed this one the other day. And tonight, since it is all snowy and ice-stormy in central Indiana, I put it on to wear around the house.

Very comfy. Much less hassle than trying to wear a blanket around yourself. I've been wearing it all evening!

I've got a couple of more photos on my blog, if you'd like to see it all spread out.

14  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Flames! on: February 01, 2008 03:03:04 PM
Take a look at my hubby's new hat!

Took forever to knit! (Actually, it knitted pretty quickly, but I frogged and reknit a couple of times.) The pattern was good, the chart was excellent. All the problems I had with this were my own.

Guage is important, people. And if you, like I, laugh in the face of guage... Math is very important.

If you're up for a laugh at my expense, you can read about my ongoing frustrations with this hat on my blog, www.knit4freedom.blogspot.com
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Meowlingual on: January 20, 2008 06:06:00 PM
Yes, I am one of those crazy old ladies who talk to their cats. (Maybe not that old, I guess.)

Anyway, GabGab said she would like a new sweater. Well, she might have said something like "Leave me alone, you psycho! I'm trying to sleep!" But, you know. Whatever.  I can't resist putting clothing on a cat.

The pattern is from Lion Brand. It's actually a dog sweater (Puppy Love), but don't tell her that. I used about 2 balls of Bold Black.

I made some other things for my cats, since I was doing so well at translating cat to human. You can check them out on my bloghttp://knit4freedom.blogspot.com/.

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / So hard to knit for men... on: December 29, 2007 01:51:46 PM
Because they always say they don't want anything "too fancy" but you want to make something that shows you care enough to hand knit something for them. But they want something practical that they can use and you want to give them something they will use, and not just toss on the top shelf of the closet...

Anyway, that was the little argument going on in my head as I tried to come up with some manly Christmas knits. This is the hat I did for my friend Jon. I will be giving it to him tonight, so we'll see if he likes it.

It's a pretty simple K2P2 ribbed beanie, mostly LB WoolEase Chunky. I posted a pattern on my blog, if you're interested, but it's pretty straight forward.
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Sparkly Prom Shawl on: July 10, 2007 07:19:55 PM
Yeah, I know prom is waaaay past. But I am just getting around to loading these pix on the computer.

This is the shawl I knitted for my daughter's prom this year. I tried to get a good shot of the stitch pattern and the sparkly yarn, but the camera did not want to cooperate.

I have an action pic on my blog (Monday, July 9), but you're gonna have to scroll to the bottom of that post because I tend to ramble a bit.  Wink
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I'd never seen one of these before... on: January 31, 2007 08:32:04 PM
...but I had this idea about having something knitted on my desk. I found a pattern for a felted basket, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Then, I found a pattern for this in an old Knitting Digest I got from eBay.

And it was just what I was looking for.
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Super Comfy Slippers on: January 16, 2007 08:25:39 PM
And they are super comfy!

They're from the Pattern A Day Calendar.

(They're what I did while Jack Bauer tried to save the world this week.)

Another pic and some WIP pix on my blog.
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Because she was cold on: December 30, 2006 05:12:18 PM
My cat Gabby has licked all her fur off. So I knit her a sweater.

There's another picture and a pattern of sorts (if you have a crazy cat who licks all her fur off, too) on my blog.
