1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: interested in fairs but nervous on: June 06, 2007 06:40:02 AM
I haven't been doing shows too long....but YES There is a LOT of expense (financially and physically) involved.
It's back breaking work also!  You prob need someone else to help you so you can be relieved for potty breaks etc.... lunch, stretch your legs, etc....

Yes, I bought a blue tent -- it was all I found and didn't know.... so far I've been ok, but a LOT of the big shows REQUIRE white tents only!!  (tents themselves can run several hundred $$$$!)

Good Luck!  Jump on in Grin

Luckily I had my mother sew me some table cloths... no they don't make fabric wide enough.  She was a saint and said I owed her BIG TIME!  She had to do 2 6ft tables and a card table..... They look GREAT!

I always have my business cards....
and a copy of my 'anticipated upcoming shows for 2007'
w dates and locations.... staple the business card to the iteniary.

Put them in EVERY bag and hand one to each person who even comes in to LOOK.

I have also found that if you can be actively doing some of your craft, it makes it MUCH more interesting!!!  I sit and paint signs all day (just part of my merchandise) and I'll get custom orders for signs all day long!

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Acrylic on glass? on: June 22, 2006 12:38:25 PM
thought I would answer / I'm usually a lurker.

I do a LOT of painting and lots of it on glass.
Where you bought the little 2oz bottles of acrylic paint -- there are also 2oz bottles of glass and tile primer....   brush that on exactly where you are going to paint.  It dries kinda milky so don't put it all over the bottle if you are not going to paint the entire bottle.

use your acrylic paints, then spray over (or use a gloss/matte) sealer on top of the painted part.

VOILA -- painted glass that is pretty tough!

8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: empty thread spools? on: June 22, 2005 12:36:19 PM
I'm new to this group and I was looking for uses for small wooden spools also... the last reply to this topic was a longggg time ago and I'm hoping someone has some new ideas!

Thanks so much....
(I've now got 3 large jars of spools and was hoping for some Christmas ornament ideas... or SOMETHING!)

Thanks again Kiss
