1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Drop-Stitch Scarf-turned-shawl on: January 22, 2006 04:55:31 PM
My first project was the drop-stitch scarf on knittinghelp.com, and the pattern came together really quickly and easily for me.  I've been thinking about a shawl, since my office is bloody freezing, and eventually decided that I could adapt the pattern into shawl-form by adding increases and decreases!

So, here it is, my first shawl :

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Reproducing a Purse on: July 10, 2005 08:56:56 AM

I'd like to try to knit something which looks (similar to) this. It's crochet, so I don't think I would be able to make 'exactly' this, but I plan to try anyway.  here's what I would like to know:

-- for the main part and the top-closing part would I be able to just knit, or is there another stitch which would look better?
-- for the ruffle, just a strip of ribbing, gathered and sewn on, yes?

Its probably a few projects away for me, but I would like to start thinking/planning now.  Any yarn recommendations would be much appreciated

Photos here ^^

the pattern I used is here : http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2002#2002

I finished it in a weekend. I screwed it up halfway through, where I somehow added a stitch, so one half is wider than the rest, but I'm pretty darn proud!

Edited to Add : I'd welcome comments, including criticism; provided its not just "Wow, that sucks monkey snot" but rather "You know, that kinda sucks monkey snot, here's what I suggest for improvement: ..."  And, of course "holy gee, that's pretty" is more than welcome too Cheesy
