It's great to see you around, Gozer. I hope that your treatments are helping and you're well on the road to recovery.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season!

Project Name: dolphin coasters
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: My hubby had a Secret Santa gift exchange at work. He drew his bosses name, and we knew that she loves dolphins, so we looked everywhere for something with dolphins on it. We couldn't find much, so we came up with the idea to make coasters. I had to create a stencil, mix paints to create the colors we ended up using, and then started painting the coasters. I had no idea what I was doing (in fact, I chatted with Inselaeffchen about putting a finishing coat on to protect the paint). The coaster pictured is the best of the four we painted. It took me a few tries to make the paint look better using the stencil. I forgot to take photos before I wrapped her gifts, so my hubby had to snap a photo at the party.

Project Name: Audrey II sleep sack
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: QueenHobo is currently growing my future niece, Audrey. She was conceived on the day of the eclipse, and Audrey is the name of our late grandmother, so the name was kind of a perfect fit for this little baby. I am of course referring to Little Shop of Horrors. An eclipse happens and a giant venus flytrap like thing comes to earth, and Seymore names the plant Audrey II. I altered the colors in a sleep sack to make it look like Audrey II, and though it looks nothing like Audrey II, it does get the gist across. Figuring out how to do the pink ends was a pain in the you-know-what. But I finally figured it out, and gave myself 20 extra ends to weave in. Worth it, though Smiley

Project Name: Lasagna
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: I made lasagna for our Christmas Eve dinner. It's a tradition in our family to eat lasagna on either Christmas Eve or Christmas day. Some people might argue we use too much cheese. Those people are wrong, but I will forgive them. :p (I made two of these. We devoured the first one, and the second is in the freezer for dinner in a few weeks. I think that will be devoured, too. I don't cook often, but when I do, it's usually tasty! Christmas day I made scalloped potatoes, but I forgot to get a photo, and it was devoured by the time I remembered).

Project Name: Snowman ornament
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: QueenHobo, my niece, and I sat down and painted ornaments. I suck at painting, so I painted it to the point *I* was finished with it. Then I pushed it over to QueenHobo so she could fix all the fiddly small bits. Thanks, Sis!

Yes, LovelyMiss. Thank you for all that you do to make the games fun!

We didnt set up our tree last year (I cant believe weve lived in AZ for a year now!), but we did this year. Remember these ornaments I made two years ago? My hubby just spent 30 minutes trying to make his tree look perfect. Hes usually bah humbug about Christmas, but he loves his tree. Hes so excited about it, he wanted me to share again. I told him I couldnt share in the main thread, but Id show in the discussion thread.

Aww man! I pulled this wreath out to hang in my craft room, but it was all bent out of shape. While trying to fix it, I ruined it. Like, a snowman completely lost its head, and two others are nearly headless. But thats ok. I am making a new wreath that Im actually attaching to a wire wreath form this time, so hopefully this will last longer than the last. Im hoping to finish this by the end of this month to post for this season. It take a surprisingly long time to make both pom poms for each snowman, even with my Clover pom pom maker.

9  Giant Fox in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by storerboughtcreations on: November 26, 2017 04:20:54 PM

A friend asked me to make a fox for her. She sent me the link to a pattern she liked, so I purchased the pattern and gathered my supplies. The original pattern called for a fairly thin weight yarn and a tiny crochet hook, but I didn't notice that when I began crocheting. The pattern stated the finished fox would be roughly 10.5 inches tall. She wanted it to be slightly larger, so I used worsted weight yarn doubled up and an I (5.5mm) hook. I'm glad I didn't pay attention to the supplies listed, because I never would have doubled the worsted weight yarn and created this giant.

My finished fox measures 21 inches tall! I knew it was going to be huge when I finished the head. By itself, the head measures 7 inches tall!

Once I finished the torso, arms, and legs, I took a photo and measured this big boy to make sure my friend would be happy with the size. She was ecstatic! I finished the tail and attached it, and now this behemoth will be heading to its new home tomorrow. I'm kind of sad to see it go because I fell in love with it. I guess that just gives me an excuse to make more! Smiley

Prompt: November - Battle - Sci-Fi Convention
Team: multimedia
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Orange Dragon
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: Stuffed animal 5 of 6 that I will be sending to Alaska was this dragon. Dragons are in science fiction novels and movies, so I assume they would be at sci-fi conventions. I used my dinosaur pattern I've shared previously for this, but I added some modifications to make it a dragon. If I get that typed up and uploaded to Ravelry, I'll update this post to add engineering points, but since I haven't done that, I won't claim them for now.

Prompt: November - Panels
Team: multimedia
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Zombie
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: This is the final stuffed animal I need to ship out! I will send it out right after the Thanksgiving weekend. It should arrive before Christmas. I'm going to have to find a big box!

I used yarn, stuffing, buttons, and beads to make this doll. The original pattern called for it to be a puppet, but that's not what was wanted, so I didn't add the jointing and string the pattern called for. I also did my own thing for the eyes as I didn't want to use felt. Otherwise I followed the pattern. My niece now wants me to make her one.
