1  Red Fox in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by storerboughtcreations on: October 19, 2018 02:57:46 AM
I was at the thrift store last weekend when I found three skeins of some lovely red tweed yarn. I decided to buy them, and thought for a few days about what I wanted to make with it. When I remembered that I had some grey and oatmeal tweed colors on hand, I decided I needed to make a fox, so I did!

I absolutely love how he turned out. And this only used one skein of the red, so I can make two more so he has some friends. My sister, QueenHobo, already wants to claim him. She has declared his name is Rupert. Should I be a nice big sister and send it to her, or be a mean big sister and have her make do with a photo? Mwahahaha Smiley

Brief Description: this fox is made with red tweed yarn. I found it at the thrift store and just had to get it. I found three skeins, but it took only one to make this, so maybe I'll make two more! I had the grey and oatmeal colored tweeds at home already, and I think all three colors go together nicely!

I totally forgot to say that I crocheted around some wood slats for the wings! It makes the toy a little heavier, but not by much.

Tracking Update:

Welcome to the Fall 2018 season!

I just finished setting up the tracking sheet and linked it to the Data Depot. I also just finished updating the Research Project Lab.

I archived all of the members that haven't participated for at least 12 months. The proposed projects still exist, so if a member decides to join in the fun again I can update the project list. I invite all of the active members to check out their proposed projects. Feel free to cancel any old projects, place any project on hold, or submit a new project using the submission header. If you see any proposed projects missing, please contact me with the link to the project proposal and I will be happy to update your list!

As always, please let me know if I missed anything. I'll get right on updating errors. Thanks, Nerds! Craft away and show us all your awesome projects! Smiley

I do plan on stitching up some more rainbow animals in the future. Right now Im working on two MASSIVE lion cross stitches simultaneously. One for me, one for my dad. This is the biggest piece Ive ever stitched, so it will take me a while. Its full coverage, and will be 15x18 inches when done.

Heres what the finished pieces will look like:

---Research Project Lab---

Research Projects are worth 200 points, and are eligible for10 Giver Bonus Points (if the project is for charity), 10 Engineering Bonus Points (if the project includes a new tutorial, pattern, or recipe), 10 Community Bonus Points (if project is given its own thread with at least 3 photos, one of which is a progress/process shot), 10 WIP It Bonus Points (if the project is a work-in-progress/un-finished object), 10 Brain Power Bonus Points (if the project involves a new skill/technique), 10 Swaptastic Bonus Points (if the project is for a Swap or the Nerd Games Raffle), and 100 EPIC! Bonus Points (if the project takes more than 45 hours to complete, and at least one progress photo is posted in the Discussion Thread during the course of the project).  More than one set of Bonus Points may be claimed if the project meets the necessary requirements of each.

---RESEARCH PROJECT FAQ---
How do I do a Research Project?
Research Projects must be proposed before you begin so Gamemakers can keep track of your progress and offer encouragement along the way.  Use the Research Project Proposal Header, available below, to propose your project in this thread.  If your project is a surprise, such as a swap item, you may PM your proposal to the Head Gamemaker, LovelyMiss.  Include relevant information in your proposal, such as materials, plan of action, and a timeline of how your project will fulfill the three week/20 hour crafting requirement.  You may post progress photos in the Discussion thread, but it is not a requirement.

Once your Research Project is complete, you will turn it in using the Research Project Submission Header, available below.  Give details and provide at least one photo of your completed Research Project in your post.  Research Projects should be submitted in this thread.

How long do Research Projects have to take?
Speed and difficulty are very subjective and unique to each individual.  Research projects need to minimally take at least 20 hours OR be in the works for at least three weeks, as well as be a personal challenge to you.

Your crafting time begins when you submit your proposal.  Research projects may take longer than 20 hours/three weeks.  Any unfinished Research Projects at the end of the season will carry over to the next round of the Nerd Battles/Games.

What counts as crafting time for the requirements?
The 20 hour/three week time requirement is based on "active" crafting time, where you are engaging with the project or materials in some way.  "Passive" crafting time can be counted, if it makes up a small percentage (20% or less), of the 20 hour/three week minimum.  An example of passive crafting time is long soaking periods where the materials are sitting untouched.  If you check on them, and swirl them around, you can count the swirling/checking time as active time.  If you have to keep a close eye on things so you're checking and altering/engaging every 10-15 minutes, you can count all of that as active crafting time.  Other passive crafting time examples might be the time food sits in a slow cooker, long drying times for paint or material, and curing times for things like candles or soap.

What if I finish early?
Research Projects that do not take the allotted three week/20 hour time limit will not be counted as complete.  If you finish earlier than expected, craft an additional items(s) that corresponds to your Research Project.  Add a note when you turn in your project that you finished early, and include details about your additional crafting.

How do I choose a Research Project?
A Research Project can be anything that will be a personal challenge to you and that takes at least three weeks/20 hours of crafting time. If you decide to change or abandon your Research Project, notify the Head Gamemaker, LovelyMiss, and your proposal will be deleted from the records.  Each player may have two Research Projects proposed at a time.  If you want to propose a new Research Project, you must make sure one of your slots is free, either by completing or deleting a proposal.

Can I propose a work-in-progress as a Research Project?
Yes, as long as you have at least three weeks/20 hours of crafting time left to go on the project before it is finished.  You should include WIP status and timeline information when you fill out the Research Project Proposal Header to demonstrate that your project requires at least three more weeks or 20 hours of work to be complete.

Can I have multiple Research Projects?
You may have three Research Project going at a time.  If you decide to change or abandon a Research Project, notify the Head Gamemaker, LovelyMiss, and your proposal will be deleted from the records.  Once a Research Project is completed or deleted, you may propose another, up to three total.  You may unlock a fourth Research Project spot by completing two Research Projects within one 365 day period.

When can I propose a Research Project?  When are Research Projects due?
You may propose a Research Project at any time during the season. Your crafting time begins when you submit your proposal.  Research Projects can take longer than three weeks/20 hours to complete.  Any unfinished Research Projects at the end of the season will carry over to the next round of the Nerd Battles/Games.

How many points are Research Projects worth?
Research Projects will earn 200 points.  Research Projects are also eligible to earn Engineering, Giver, Community, WIP It, Brain Power, Swaptastic, and EPIC! Bonus Points.  Research Projects are separate from the normal Challenge/Battle/UFO Sighting/Red Alert prompts.  In most cases it is not permissible to "double dip" on individual Research Project elements, so anything included in a Research Project cannot also be turned in for a Nerd Games prompt or other crafting opportunity.
