1  hooded towel (as a baby gift, not for a dog as shown) in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by lianamaris on: April 14, 2010 07:58:25 PM

So I didn't use a pattern or anything for this, because after looking at some of the others on here I was too daunted to try any of the patterns...  So I whipped it up from a hand towel and a regular towel.  It's probably too big for a baby, but I thought it would be good for a toddler.  (Though modeled by my dog, it is not actually for him.)

Towels shed A LOT.  So there are a lot of rolled seams on this bad boy.  All in all, I'm pretty happy with it.

2  Bag from Circle Skirt (Mother's Day Gift) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lianamaris on: April 13, 2010 09:39:59 PM

Not having a job or money at the moment, I needed to make something for my mother for mother's day from things I already had.  I have had this skirt for six years and I only wore it once! But I loved the fabric, which was why I couldn't get rid of it.

It was heavily pleated so I cut off the top band to make a long rectangle of fabric and used some old curtain fabric that a friend had given me as a lining- a lime green canvas-like material.  This gave the bag a great structure.  I took apart the top band to get rid of the bottom part of the skirt and hand-sewed it back together to make the "latch" and the strap.

The bag is 13" tall, 12" wide and 3" deep.  Great size for magazines, which my mom loves!

(this pic is a little weird because I had already cut off the top band before taking the picture, but you get the idea)

3  Re: Bead Soup Swap in The Swap Gallery by lianamaris on: August 09, 2005 08:25:43 PM
yeah! here is my pic of the stuff i got from jennickell!

and the details:

a bag filled with split rings and findings
an enamelled round earring i will turn into a necklace
a tiny sculpture of the "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" monkeys (which totally rules)
two beaded clip on earrings, which i think I am going to turn into sweater clips
a big fatty pearl earring with a screw back (very cool)
another beaded earring with a screw back
a rocking gold crab brooch which will definitely make it onto this brown purse i have that had gold hardware that i found for 50 cents at a swap meet.
a tiger in the grass brooch
a small circle pin that i might glue some rhinestones on
a tiny blue glass moon

and in the bag: pony beads, and bubble beads and native american style acrylic beads, and plastic teardrops and wooden circles and squares and sequins and all kinds of great grab bag stuff!

thanks jennickell! i will be sure to let you know as things get used!  (sorry for the late post)

4  LUCHA LIBRE! shirt for my guy's bday in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by lianamaris on: July 16, 2005 02:21:42 PM
so this is a gift for my guy's bday...

the "arena!" is on the front and the other set is on the back.  the shirt was hell to work with because it was a very light fabric- but with a little ironing, and a body behind it, i think it will be good. this was my first time working with the sublime iron-on's.  i had only done freeform before this.
it still need some serious ironing, but i couldnt wait!
sorry the middle pic is a little blurry, it looks sharper in real life.  and those hinky stitches were just some folds in the fabric- not actual hinkiness. Wink

6  draft beer, not kids shirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by lianamaris on: July 12, 2005 11:29:10 PM
newest shirt for me- its looking a little chalky and dingy in the pic, but thats the flash- its not that bad in reality.

i wouldve liked my letters to be a little sharper, but alas, a dull exacto knife leads to dull words.

front of the shirt:

back of the shirt:

just a little punny joke to make me smile in these moments of unrest...

hope you like!!!  love you guys for your inspiration!

7  biohazard stencil shirt for guy in Stenciling: Completed Projects by lianamaris on: July 12, 2005 11:15:38 AM
I bought this black button-down for $9.90 at h&m for my honey's bday, and I made these stencils for it.

It looks stark white, but thats just the flash- its actually more of a grey.  I used white acrylic with a little black fabric paint to make it grey (thats all i had), and then ironed it.
The front is plain, just the sleeve biohazard and the gas mask on the back.  I really like how it came out!

Most of my crafty gifts for him have been pretty cheesy, but I think he is really going to like this one- it reminds me of something from urban outfitters.  I got both stencils from freewebs.com/stencilry.  This is only my second stencil project so it was a little hinky - doing the reverse with the white on black, and the biohazard came out a little fuzzy, but Im happy with it.

8  Re: we're reaching a milestone in Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage by lianamaris on: July 12, 2005 07:46:34 AM
my first thought was a box made to look like the animal cracker circus box (with the string handle), and filled with a pair of plushie lions or elephants or something. (maybe you two have some personal joke about a certain animal?)

the other thing i thought of was the felt sandwich... but you could make it huge, like a put-together sandwich pillow or something.  here is the link to that post:

if you cant tell, im into plushies these days   Smiley

9  david bowie stencil bag (first stencil ever!!!) in Stenciling: Completed Projects by lianamaris on: July 06, 2005 07:43:07 PM
so this is my first stencil EVER!  i used spray mount to hold the stencil down because of the details around the eyes. just acrylic paint on an old tote bag.

its david bowie (i did the eyes differently because he has the one blue and the one brown).  can you tell its him?  if you saw it on the street, would you recognize him?

thanks for all your inspiration here- you gave me the confidence to try this new art!

10  Super Mario Plushie Mobile (6 sprites!) img heavy in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by lianamaris on: July 03, 2005 12:41:09 PM
here is my little shine sprite (from nintendo's super mario sunshine). it looks much cuter (and more vibrant and alive) in person, but hopefully you get the idea.

i used yellow felt, and varigated embroidery thread.  i glued on the eyes, which gives them a little sheen, which is okay.

in the picture it looks a little flat, but it is in fact stuffed. its only about 5 inches across.  im not totally sure what to do with it because it is so small!  hope you like it!

okay, so after all of this, i made a wall hanging out of it, and made some friends...

here it is-

thanks for all your comments!
