1  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Irregular dying/Pooling Question on: January 18, 2008 03:59:44 PM
So. I'm making Monkey socks from Knitty-like everyone and their brother.
My question is how do you dye yarn in an attempt to avoid pooling?
I've made self stripping yarn before, but I would like a seemingly random effect in 3 similar colors without pooling.
Whats your take?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Provisional Cast On Woes on: December 04, 2007 10:00:58 PM
I'm struggling with a provisional cast on.
I've tried 3 different methods-from Eunny Jang's website. I am still most comfortable with the crocheting onto the needle method.
Only trouble is that with each method I end up with 2 fewer stitches. On the side that I began knitting on the yarn hangs up, and doesn't loop into the next bar down like a regular cast on. And on the side that I knit to, the stitch can be picked up, but is looped.
Does this have to do with the way I am starting the knitting? All of Eunny's methods just say "Start Knitting"...am I missing something?
Thankyou so much for your help.
