They're lovely! I'd never even heard of colour catchers before now, but I'm quite envious of yours. Just gorgeous.

Love this, it looks great. I especially love how the one in the middle extends up the back, very cool.

jazzminh - thanks so much for the tips. I have a problem with dust, especially on the black background, but I've bought a few very little canvas boards to experiment with and I will definitely give your suggested technique a shot.

geekgirl - it's 12x12 inches. The glue is not so much of a problem as the dust that settles in it (and in the black paint).

aimr - believe me, it's far from perfect. I started out using a matt varnish as the glue, but it moistens the paper too much and the colour ('scuse my Aussie spelling) often came off on my fingers when I pressed the pieces down. I also used a UHU glue stick, but it can be a bit lumpy and the bits can fall off if they're not pressed down really hard. I'm going to buy some gel medium today so I can see how that goes.

BeaG - I love your magazine mosaic collages, they're gorgeous! My efforts certainly do not beat yours, though the styles are quite different.

Thanks to all of you for saying it's beautiful as it is, but I can absolutely see why Onyxnox would ask if it was a work in progress. I've decided really like the title 'Abandoned Dream', it's much more appropriate.

I have been undecided about it's doneness since I went a step beyond where I was really happy with it. I'm a bit over thinking about the best way to move on with it to be honest, but your comment has definitely made me reconsider my decision to just let it be.  Or perhaps I should call it Abandoned Dreams instead.

Snippets of blue and green paper cut from old magazines and glued to canvas board that I painted black. Sorry the photo's not great, this is the best I could manage for the time being.

Love the inky/drippy/shadowy bits! Very sweet picture.

This is just gorgeous. I love that you used the old hand written recipe cards, so fitting for the old-fashioned domestic scene.

Thank you for the comments, guys, and thank you to alteredmommy and Monkey for your thoughts relating to art vs craft.

Like alteredmommy, I also think that the art/craft line is blurrier than most realise. Personally, I tend to think that art is supposed to convey some sort of message, and that the intended message should be known before the work is even begun. If that's the case, however, I think most work commonly accepted as being art is actually craft. It's not too difficult to contrive a deep message about a creation once it's finished and who, but for the creator, would ever have to know.

I hesitate to call anything I make 'art' because the finished product is usually a complete surprise to me, nor am I trying to communicate anything. I make stuff, or try to, that I find visually appealing, and that's it. I'm also not sure why I give a *%#$, but I do seem to care more than I like to admit to myself. Roll Eyes

Thanks newtread and HSG, I'm so glad you like it and I love how you've all seen something different in it. Personally, it reminds me a bit of an 80s arcade game.
