1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Buying my first canopy, need input on: May 12, 2014 09:26:42 AM
I've done three craft shows so far, and I've been borrowing my nephew's Coleman 8x16 canopy.  It's time to buy my own.  I'm wanting to buy a 10x10 white canopy with sidewalls.  Most of the canopies I've seen at the shows are EZ-Up.  During my research, I've also found King Canopy, Caravan, and many "off-brand" models.  Almost all of the above have reviews ranging from "best purchase ever" to "this thing broke first setup, don't buy ever!".  I don't have the money to buy a true industrial $800+ setup.  Right now my budget is around $150-200.  I was looking at one at Big Lots that is true 10x10 and comes with sidewalls and roller bag for $170.  Not sure of the brand, it says commercial grade on the box, but print is cheap.  However, I just came across one at Sam's Club that looks promising:

Z-Shade Commercial Shelter, 4 sidewalls (one zippered), anchor weight plates, steel/aluminum construction, stakes, name banner, awning and roller bag with pockets for walls and accessories.  $199.98

Almost seems like a no-brainer, right?  But before I go plunking down that chunk of change I wanted to get as much feedback and advice as I can.  I've got a little time before my next show on the 31st.

My goal is eventually to have two 10x10 canopies, because some shows I've seen only offer a 10x10 space while others offer 10x20 or larger.  With two I can join them together and have more inventory space.  For now the single will work while I work on more professional-looking displays.

So I'm open to any ideas, suggestions, brands, etc.
