11  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / A dvd box for my Bro on: September 15, 2005 01:03:05 PM
My bro is off to uni (tommorow!) so I stencilled some of his favourite comedians onto a dvd box for him to keep his dvd's in.

and inside I put ......

Some Brownie Mix!!!!

I know the eyes stencilled a little wierd, but I am too scared to use spray repositionable adhesive cos last time it made everything very sticky! Anyone got an alternative (other than freezer paper,  we don't appear to have freezer paper in the UK!)
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Ill Relative/Friend Craftalong on: August 22, 2005 06:00:16 AM
Ill Relative/Friend Craftalong - (orientated to the long term ill, limited mobility/energy etc)

I have seen lots of requests for ideas in the miscellaneous gift ideas section for gifts for those who are unwell. Plus I keep on meaning to make things for my friend (19, with chronic fatigue) and great-aunt (60 something with terminal throat cancer) and then forgetting! So I thought a craftalong would keep me on track.
(For sick people who are allergic to things try laminating your projects so they are wipe-clean.)

22nd August - 11th September - Toys
   Choose one (per unwell person)
(depending on age/gender etc of unwell person)
Paper Dolls - make your own, print off designs and mount them or use photos!
Try these links for more ideas/printable's
I am going to make paper dolls for my friend with chronic fatigue.
Paper models - great for guys!
Maybe paper aeroplanes, paper ships, paper models of white house/other buildings
Brilliant stuff here http://papertoys.com/ Dont forget to gift them some glue and a tray to work on also!
Memory Question book - Depending on the person whether its more scrapbook or journal like,
I am going to make one for my great-aunt and I am going to say, that
This book is just for you, you dont have to show it to anyone else if you dont want to!
and maybe on questions about her school days I will put a pic of my younger brothers first day at secondary school or something :S

12th - 25th September - Activity Book
Custom puzzle book/colouring book (Suitable for all!)
eg. for a ill grandma try Find your Grandchildren wordsearch.
For a little child a colouring book from photos of family/friends might be good
These might help or just trace them!
other colouring book ideas http://www.hefty.com/AlphabetBook/coloringbook.html
A young child might like it laminated, so they can colour it in, wipe it clean, then colour in again.
These web pages let you make your own custom puzzles
Or you can draw your own!

26th - 30th September - Card
Diplomatic Get Well card
For many long term-ill people sending a Get Well card is inappropriate, if they have a chronic condition they may take years to get well, and for those with terminal illnesses a Get Well card is entirely unsuitable.
So your final challenge is to make a Alternative Get Well Card suitable for you friend/relative.
