171  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / shoulder duster earrings on: August 03, 2005 01:20:56 PM
i made these a while ago but i'm just now posting them. the title's pretty self-explanatory.

surprisingly they're extremely light and just feel like extra hair hanging down. one of my favorite pairs of earrings.

enjoy and please post comments!
172  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Crafty But Stupid: YOUR CRAFT RELATED INJURIES HERE! on: August 03, 2005 09:08:51 AM
back when i was taking a print making class, i was carving a stamp out of linoleum with a v-shaped carving tool, and instead of using a clamp to hold the piece in place i got lazy and just held it down with my hand(that was stupid). well i was getting frustrate with the damn thing because it was taking like a week to finish and i had already minorly stabbed myself 4 or 5 times in this last day, so i started pressing harder and went right down the side of my middle finger. not only did it leave an EXTREMELY deep cut(i won't go into detail of how deep) but because of the shape of the tool it left two identicals cuts side by side. and then in the middles of cleaning up the spill and trying to stop the bleeding i passed out from blood loss onto the concrete floor. not a good day.

as if i'm not injury-prone enough on my own, i also have had a tendency to be a victim of my mothers crafts too. when i was still a baby my mother took me to have pictures taken of me in a little dress she had made. i cried through the whole entire shoot and neither my mom or the photographer could figure out why. it was after we got home that my mom discovered that when sewing up the dress she had accidently left some of the pins still attached in the fabric. the best picture they got was of me with bloodshot, teary eyes and a slight grimace...

i could go on forever but i'll stop there.

yay orange rooms rock! i love that you painted the ceiling; white ceilings always bothered me. the paint in my bedroom is called "jamaican sun" it's slightly yellower than your top color, but just as bright. orange is so invigorating, it makes me want to really live rather than just exist...wooaah that sounded way too deep..

OH MY GOSH I had my room painted orange for years, i absolutely loved it. The man in the store where I bought my paint warned me that the color would probably keep me awake at night, it was so bright.

haha the guy at the paint store said the same thing to me about the "bright color keeping me awake"

wow, it always impresses me seeing craft rooms that you can actually see the floor in...deep admiration; i can't function unless my paint stained floor is covered with twenty different projects (sigh).. Undecided  i think i'll post pics if i ever get mine cleaned.

lovely! i really like the open back, it's unexpected. did the pattern have that style of open back or did that just happen when you put of buttons instead of a tie?
177  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: The Magnificent Peacock Prom Dress on: August 01, 2005 09:41:58 PM
beautiful dress!! peacock feathers are one of my favorite things, i know a lady who has over 35 peacocks..there are many different breeds of peacocks that have different feather types/colors (white, blue, green, black, etc.), an idea if you can find a farm that sells the different kinds of feathers! i looove the white ones!

here's two places you can buy peacock feathers(the first is pretty cheap, definitely affordable):

heh, thanks! i've actually made a bunch of different kinds (some without eyes) but all of them i either sold or gave away, but i might post them if i make some more or see someone wearing them.. i'm not exactly sure how the iron ended up melted, it was just something i found and thought was worth keeping. now i use it as a jewelry display and for other stuff..
