21  Re: I'm no good with plants.. in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions by bubba*tink on: January 24, 2007 08:23:27 AM
I have the perfect solution for this!!  I haven't actually done it for my house yet, but I've been dreaming about it all winter long!

I'm no good with plants either, and we only have a tiny patio with a small flower bed so there's not much room for grand gardening...so we were going to completely weed and remove all roots etc from the (utterly dead) flower bed, and either pour a bunch o rocks over it or get some sod and roll it out over the bed.  Then here comes to fun part!  Get some huge planters and stick some alreaady grown flowers or plants in there, or plant some seeds!

Kinda like these:

oooh, nice round head, alteredmommy!  Sorry you had to go through chemo, are you alright now?

Here are mine!  I have so much fabric, yarn, marble magnets, beads, ribbon, buttons, fabric (yes, I have to say it twice) that if I started collecting paper I'm afraid I might explode...all the atcs I've made (all five...) have been digital, so here goes!

my "official" bubba tink atc, featuring my babes, Ravenherst (the girl looking grumpy on the bottom) and Cosmo (the boy looking regal on the top):

Saskia, you look so beautiful!!!  And I'm glad you're still together with your boyfriend, cos I sent the sour skittles just for him. Wink  So glad you like everything!!!

AND I LOOOOOVE what you sent me!!!!!!!  Look at all this shtuff, everyone!!  Look at all the kinder goodies, and Curly Wurly's are my fave choccies ever!  And of course the most coveted Stroopwafels, the best cookies in the world!!!!!!  I love maltesers (MUCH better than the american version, Whoppers), and I've never heard of Prince before, but can't wait to have them for breakfast tomorrow! Grin

A frikken beautiful felt wall clock, based on one on my wists!!!!  And in my utterly fave colour combination!!!!!!  I couldn't believe she made me this, it's just too awesome!  THANK YOU La_chrystelle!!!!!!!

The green felt has cutouts, and the pink felt is underneath.  They're glued onto a piece of cardboard and then a lovely piece of purple felt is stuck onto the back.  sigh!!  so beautiful...

And here it is in my sewing room, replacing my boring old black one:

THANK YOU SASKIA!!!  I love everything so much, I'm so glad we did this personal swap!  You're just awesome.... Smiley

oooh, that dice bracelet is excellent!!  And that little panda is super cute!!! Grin

I did another private swap with La_Chrystelle (I really wanted some more stroopwafels, and she wanted more american candy, and we also swapped some wist-inspired crafty goodness).

She had this little folding organiser in her wists that she wanted something similar for her crochet hooks, so I came up with this:

I love it so much!  Must make more!! Grin

I made her a flying bird necklace made from black shrinky dinks (which I forgot to take pictures of, and here's an awkward pic of me wearing it on Thanksgiving...heehee)

And I made her an xmas card out of felt and a giant fake rhinestone.

So glad you like everything, Saskia!!  Can't wait to get stroopwafels, yummmmmmm........ Grin

Jezebel said it was ok for me to post pics of what I sent her, she'll be sorry! heehee...I went a little picture crazy...

Here's all the loot together!  I got most of the chocolate and candy from World Market (aka CostPlus).

Here's the stocking!  I made it different on each side, just in case she didn't like the design... Smiley

I made her a kiwi scarf from her wists (this is my first ever finished crochet project!!!!! Grin) and some felt-backed coasters from fabrics that she picked from my stash blog!

I made her some marble magnets, and a syringe necklace, inspired from her wists!

She also had this little monster zippered pouch on her wists, so I knitted that up during the OSU vs Michigan game at a bar (with most people actually interested in what I was doing, rather than scoffing at me for knitting in a bar! Shocked)  (by the way, I hate watching american football, but my friend rented out a bar and there was free food!  Who can say no??)

I also made her two shrinky dink pug xmas tree ornaments!  My hubby really liked them and wants me to make some for our tree now. Smiley  I luvs mah hubby!  And this is the card I made for her too.

Here are some random closeups of everything I sent.  See the mini whoopie cushion! heehee!!  Oh, I also made another xmas ornament,  it's sitting on top of the red yarn, but forgot to take a picture...

The Puppy Knits book was off her wists too, and that black thing next to it is a scarf I thought she might like too, as she had one similar (in green) in her wists.  The green fluffy things below the book are knitted mary-jane booties that I found in Target!  I need to get some for myself, they're stinken cute!!  And next to the booties are Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans!!!  They're so gross, yet highly entertaining to put a bowl of them out at parties and watch the people get vomit-flavoured ones...heehee! awww, those lover's mittens are too stinken cute!!!  And the dragonfly purse is adorable!!!

I feel so bad, I received this awesome stenciled record from ChloeisCrazy last week, and it's taken me this long to gush about it and post pics!!  sorry! Embarrassed

Here it is, a lovely Styx record (heehee!) that she revamped!  She stenciled the owl and "hoot" on felt and glued it onto the record!  And the colours go so well on our green wall, it's happy sitting there with all our other art! heehee!

Thanks so much again, bailey, for such a fantabulous swap!!!!!!!

Smiley), some deelish looking tea, two boxes of really scrumptious Hershey's sticks chocolate (minty and CARAMEL!! oooh yea!!), some really cute christmassy tissues, and yummy Alaskan salmon treats for the babes! (sorry the packaging is torn, I was a little hasty in opening it...)  Needless to say, they absolutely love you, Laura!! haha!  They're still sitting by my feet, hoping to get another little piece of yummy treat!

A FRIKKEN KNITTED SHIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I LOVE IT so much!!!  It's a beautiful colour, it fits perfectly, I'll never take it off!! hahahaa!!

A closeup of the detail of the neck, and the gorgeous floating bead necklace she made!!  I love it too, I'll wear it tonight out to dinner!!

HURRAH!  I mailed off my package to Jezebel!  It's going to Alaska from Ohio, so hope it doesn't get buried in a pile of snow!  sigh....I wish we had snow here...it seems to be getting warmer, unfair!!

Here's a teaser shot of what I sent her:

heehee!!  After stuffing the stocking full of chocolate and candy, there was only enough room for one of the prezzies I made, so most of the hand-made shtuff is sadly sitting on top o the stocking. Smiley

CAN'T WAIT FOR EARLY XMAS!!!!!!  (cos I know I definately can't wait a month to open everything!!)
