1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / New My Little Pony Customs ( pic heavy ) on: February 11, 2007 08:19:56 PM
Ok, so my computer's hard drive melted.... twice. I finally got a new one put into this laptop, and I am back! I have some new customs to share. I must say, it is very awesome to see customs on craftster! I have been customizing for about three years now, and for a while, didn't really think to post them here  Roll Eyes silly me.

Anyhow, the first two are based off of elements from the 80's My Little Pony movie. The purple stuff is 'smooze' which is this goo that the witches sent after the ponies. The rainbow is the Rainbow of Light which was the ponies' magical defence against bad guys and the like.

more in on my flicker page:

This one I named 'Elle' - not sure why. I was going for a fully body tattoo/henna look, and I love the combo of black and pink.

annnd... a WIP. I started her in 2006. She is taking me -forever- Can you guess who it is? she's another famous 80's cartoon icon!

Thanks for looking, hope you like them!

2  CANADA / British Columbia / locations of 'old school' photo booths in the Lowermainland? on: November 26, 2006 09:23:04 AM
Hey guys, I have not seen one of these in ages.... is it because I simply am not looking hard enough? or am being very unobservant in my daily life?

I would love to gather a list of locations where these photo booths still exist, in malls, cities, etcetera.... this might be a good thread for people to refer back to in the future if we can get a good list going!

Thanks for any help Smiley

3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Grinch giving the middle finger? on: November 26, 2006 08:43:57 AM
Hi guys, I did a search for 'grinch' in this board but nothing came up.

anyhow, a friend was commenting yesterday on how much he dislikes christmas. I swear he is a character foil to me, who absolutely loves christmas...

now, he recently lost a bet at work and now has to dye his hair red and green (LOL) for the christmas season.

He was commenting on how he would love to have a t-shirt with the grinch giving the middle finger to wear on conjunction with his festive hair-do...

can anyone whip up an image of a classic grinch giving the finger? (not that stupid dog looking grinch from the live action movie... ) I would be eternally grateful!!!!

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / 'smooth' edge record bowls?? on: November 23, 2006 04:38:12 PM
for some reason the search feature has been unavailable for about four hours....

But. I would really love to make a record bowl for someone for christmas, because I think he'd love it. I really dislike the 'ruffled' edges however, and am wondering how to get this finished product:

I think that this finished product is so much more sleek and gift appropriate!

can anyone help at all with that??? has anyone had success achieving that? it would be greatly appreciated Smiley

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Something that is coming down, have you heard the news? (My Little Pony custom) on: November 23, 2006 07:55:20 AM
Well it's been a while since my last post, but oh well.... here is a new custom.

She is based off of the 'smooze' from the 80's My Little Pony Movie ... it was recently released on DVD, and is pretty cheap.... ten bucks is a good price for some reminiscing! Anyhow, she was fully re-haired, and her smooze bits have been sculpted by sculpy, painted with acrylics, and sealed with a high gloss sealer to make them seem oozy... here are a few quick pics:

and a close up of the smooze and re-painted eyes:

hope you guys like her Smiley

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / She-ra the My Little Pony, and more - pic heavy on: July 01, 2006 10:54:47 AM

I've been making these for about a year and a half, and with the recent swap (that I sadly could not participate in!) it dawned on me that maybe I should share! The darth maul pony is my fave that I've seen on here so far!

So, here they are - they are made from various things, sculpy, apoxie sculpt, flatback crystals, craft wire, and katsilk hair - the re-hairing took FOREVER on the large one. But I think it was worth it! I hope you all like them, I will be trying my hand at selling them on eBay, if I get the courage up to do so....

'Guardian of the Stars'

Teeny Tiny Pinkie ( I could not come up with a better name, lol )

And links to She-ra (she's in my deviant art gallery, so no hotlinking)

Hope you all like, this is technically my first project post on craftster!

7  CANADA / British Columbia / Irridescent Tricot Fabric? on: January 27, 2006 09:08:49 AM
Anyone know what I am talking about here? This is what I have been told it is called, but I am not positive. I have been searching for this stuff for a while, it is essentially a 'papery' material that is irridescant on one side, and sort of... plain, woven, rough cotton ( > ) material on the other side. It comes in various colours.

For kids of the 80's, rainbow brite's dress was made out of this (the shiny blue stuff), and various she-ra dolls had things made out of this, like she-ra and frosta's cape. Anyhow, I have been looking and looking for this  stuff, does anyone know of a store that has it in stock? Most fabric stores stare at me blankly (well, the staff, not the actual stores  Cheesy) and know nothing about this stuff...

thanks !

8  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / can anyone in New York (the city) help me out? pretty please? on: October 27, 2005 01:50:01 AM
Hi all - I dont live in New York. I'm from Vancouver, Canada. Im looking for a bit of a favor from a kind Craftster

there was recently a big exhibition in New York, called The Pony Project. Hasbro teamed up with some fairly well-known artists and had them decorate giant versions of My Little Ponies, all for charity and such. It looks like it was a fantastic show. Anyways, at the show, in the gift shop, they are selling black my little ponies for 22 dollars US. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to get my hands on one of these. I'm a bit of a pony collector you see.

Now, Im going to be honest because I dont want to be blamed for trying to con someone. These ponies are selling for upwards of 60 bucks on ebay, but I really can't afford to pay that type of money, especially after shipping and currency conversion. So I'm really hoping that someone is feeling generous enough to help me out. I would be willing to pay 32 US, as I understand that most people would not want to randomly just do this for a stranger for nothing to show. I can pay with existing funds in my paypal account. and you could pick up more than one pony for yourself, too, with the knowledge that you could make some money off of them on ebay.

er, so yeah, there you have it. my email address is arksiell at hotmail dot com. I'm hoping that someone out there is feeling kind - and I would be more than happy to help locate an item for you that you may be having a hard time finding in stores in your area, if my area does in fact have it.

thanks so much for reading this!!!

9  CANADA / British Columbia / felt prices? (BC) on: August 29, 2005 05:36:18 PM
I hope that this is a suitable place for a query like this!
I currently live in maple ridge/coquitlam (my place with the bf/my parents place that I still accidentally call home)
there is a dollar store near me that sells felt at 2 pieces for a buck. they look to be what I would imagine as standard felt squares, say 12 inches by 6 inches. I have yet to get myself to michaels to compare, but I am wondering, for the lowermainland, is this a decent price for felt? they have a ton of colours!

let me know if you can folks, and thanks for the info in advance!
10  COOKING / Dessert / chocolate candy molds? ikea? on: August 23, 2005 07:44:56 PM
quick question, does anyone know if you can use the rubber ikea ice cube trays as chocolate molds? I want to make a bunch of heart shaped chocolates for an engagement party, and am hoping that I can use my ikea molds, but I dont want to ruin them. since they are ice cube trays I am sure that they are 'foodsafe' - so my main concern is whether they can handle warm/hot chocolate being poured into them~

thanks in advance!
