261  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Any Knit 1 knitalongs? on: July 12, 2005 06:40:00 AM
All I can think of when I see those overalls is "Yarn Cameltoe."

LMAO!!  Cheesy

Glad to know I wasn't the only one.  My friend and I called it "the waste of perfectly good yarn" project.

that's a really neat idea....i think i need to think outside of the recommended gauge range =]
263  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / what to do with one skein of bamboo on: July 08, 2005 02:57:30 PM
about a year ago, i bought the lost points shawl kit from swtc http://earthfaire.com/product_info.php?products_id=893 only to have my ladder yarn tangle beyond repair (i'm still fighting a lost battle with it)  i was left with one skein of Fuschia bamboo http://www.yarnheaven.com/yarn/southwest/bamboo/bamboofuschia.jpg that i haven't the faintest idea what to do with.  anyone have any ideas?  it's sock/sport weight, about 250 yards, and like cotton it doesn't have any elasticity of it's own.  but it's beautiful!

i'm stumped.  anyone have any suggestions?
264  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: One Skein Wonder KAL Anyone? on: July 08, 2005 02:29:42 PM
i'm so in love with everyone's results that i'm ordering this pattern tonight.  so cute! =]
265  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Felt Clogs by Fibertrends KAL - anyone? on: July 08, 2005 08:30:11 AM
i don't think i'm going to make it...i need some size 2 or 3 dpns for some sock yarn i bought on ebay...but i'm cut off from buying more yarn for a while...no, really! ;]

i have a ton of stash for felted projects that never got made because i was hesitant to felt at the 'mat, but we bought a washer & dryer two weeks ago, and since my budget is tight after the purchase, it seemed like the perfect time to knock out some of that felt-intended stash!

i'm going to make the marsupial tote from snb this weekend while i'm waiting for my swift & winder, and then i'll be starting the clogs.

I passed level 2!!!  And i am 'highly encouraged' to complete the final phase.  Yay me!

Yay you indeed! Congratulations! That vest was very pretty! =]

I've just started this, anyone else out there working on this project?

perfect timing!  i thought about this after i had already posted about the felt clogs by fibertrends, and i didn't want to start two KAL requests in one day, so...i'm in! =]  this is another stash-buster that has been waiting in the wings for months.

i have tons of gjestal naturgarn no. 1 - pure new wool, single ply bulky - in grass green, sky blue, royal purple, red and black.  i'm still trying to decide on the color combo and whether or not i'm going to adjust the size up (still holding 2 strands together throughout) or down (one strand only) and needle size.  i've never felted before, so i don't know how much shrinkage to expect in terms of felted vs unfelted gauge.  the last time i started this, i used the recommended needles & 2 strands, and there wasn't much extra space in the fabric.  anyone have any advice/thoughts on which direction i should take?  i think the bag will be cute either way in the end, i just can't decide.

i have one quick scarf to finish & then i'll cast on for this tomorrow night. yay! =]
268  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Felt Clogs by Fibertrends KAL - anyone? on: July 07, 2005 11:44:23 AM
Okay, here goes my first attempt...a KAL sounds like tons o fun, and since I have 5 other WIPs and an out-of-control stash, I thought I would invite anyone else interested to join me in knocking out some of my project-intended stash, and help keep me OUT of my LYS for a couple of weeks.  ;]

Here is the project:

I'll be making mine with Lorna's Laces Butterflies and Bullfrogs in Black Purl - 2 strands together.  My best friend works as a dyer there, and sent me the gorgeous yarn and pattern over a year ago as a gift to get me out of scarf knitting and into something a little less two dimensional.  I owe it to her to get going already, but the pattern is a twee bit intimidating, and i'm loathe to go it alone.  anyone else interested?

i'll be getting started as soon as my swift & skeinwinder arrive so that i can wind the first two balls, probably monday at the latest.

269  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: New Knitty New Knitty New Knitty on: July 06, 2005 12:17:55 PM
I think the patterns themselves are nice but as someone else pointed out, this didn't seem like a good issue for summer.

i understand everyone's dissapointment, but am i really the only one who begins winter projects in summer and summer projects in late winter/early spring?

i also had a hard time thinking of possible summer knitting patterns for men.  my guy isn't really a tank top, cotton shawl or crocheted bikini kinda guy. ;]

having said that, the only pattern that got me really excited was andre, and that one is for moi!
