i may or may not pick it back up soon.  i have so much yarn in my stash to attack, i'm just knitting whatever strikes me at the moment, and cotton has not proven to be my friend. ;]

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Walmart Fabric Depts. Closing on: December 31, 2006 06:19:21 PM
...What i don't understand is that there are so many who still shop there...

...Maybe there was a choice of various stores and small businesses at some point in rural areas, but the reason there is only walmart in some areas is because walmart squashed them all...

that's the point, there isn't any place else to shop.  and part of the problem in living in a very rural area is that shipping can take days longer and cost a good deal more.

besides, for most of the rural-living folks, we aren't just talking fabric.  you can't realistically grocery-shop online for rural delivery of fresh foods, or anything other staples you need to buy on a regular basis.

just saying...

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / japanese clothing sewing books? on: December 27, 2006 01:31:20 PM
does anyone have suggestions for japanese clothing sewing books, and places to buy from?  not the craft/stuffie/zakka books, though those are adorable. i remember seeing an entry on a blog somewhere of a cute shirt pattern someone had completed from one... (if i could just remember to bookmark those awesome blogs i come across when clicking through links from other entries, but that's another problem altogether ;P)

i know of http://www.kitty-craft.com/ and i may break down very soon and buy this one from them: http://www.kitty-craft.com/shop/step1.php?number=4641

i'm thinking it would be money better spent to focus on "celebrating life" by cleaning the stores & bathrooms and hiring people who actually want to help you instead of act like you've ruined their day by asking them for assistance...that would go a long way towards making me not want to hang myself by the time i'm done shopping there every time i go.  Wink

there's also an entire article about resizing/reshaping pants in the current issue of threads, might be worth checking it out.
