11  Re: Gilmore Girls Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by grannystylee on: November 03, 2005 09:58:15 PM
Here's my cool stuff from lespaulguitargurl!

Shrinky dink Lukes necklace and GG braclet!

Gilmore's stationary and envelopes, a lined mini tote purse in honor of Luke and his flannel shirts, though when I un packed it, both my Mom and I said, "ooh chilton!"  So it works in both ways.

Also a list of books entitled 'Reading like Rory' with 125 books mentioned on the show, a whopping 10 of which I have read, 4 I have partly read and 9 I have seen the movie of, guess I should get busy!  Thanks LPG, I love the purse the most!

12  Re: vegan/ veggie swap!!! in The Swap Gallery by grannystylee on: October 14, 2005 03:25:21 PM
Okay finally!! incase you are wondering, the local post office has been holding my package hostage but forgot to send a ransom note, doh!  Always get a 3rd or 4th opinion if you dont get a straight answer!!  I learned my lesson!

Below are my goodies from viciouskittie!

Every thing came in a painted and collaged box with animal rights messages and funky pics of cat's and broccoli and more!

A cow statue and my own starter kit for embroidery (I want to take it up) including patterns with ducklings and kittens.  I think I'll start with the kitten ironing!  Also some kitschy recipe cards and chopsticks. One pair for  tofu and one to hold my hair back!

My favorite's are the 2 hand embroidered dishtowels featuring dancing veggies, trimmed in rick rack!
Also home made barn yard animal soap and a Kitty zipper pouch on a key ring.
It was all worth the wait!  Thanks again VK!

13  Martha Stuart Dashboard Shrine in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by grannystylee on: July 25, 2005 07:13:44 PM
This shrine idea is from Jennifer Knapp's cool craft book 'Retro Revamp'.
I had 20 gals over for a craft party and told them all to bring apicture for thier shrine.  People made great stuff and we had a blast!  I cutout the shrine bases and had a table overflowing with supplies plus hair dryers to help glitter and glue dry faster.  The car I have now has the kind of dash where all things slide off so Martha lives on my dresser now, though these puppies also look swell on the back of a toilet.  Hope you like.  Front and back.

14  Reach for the Stars, round candle tin diorama in CHALLENGE 3 ENTRIES by grannystylee on: July 01, 2005 09:18:13 AM
This was a tricky one but worth the effort!  I made this diorama in an empty tin from a palm wax candle and now I want to make and hang a cluster of them in various sizes, lids too.  This one is 3 inches wide.

I used a glue gun to attatch half of a paperclip for a hanger on the back.

I painted the inside black, glued a blue sky cloud paper to the back and varnished the inside.  The hand is from a vintage magazine, glued at half depth.  I put it on cardstock and varnished it.  The stars, I wish they showed up better, are various sizes of metalic confetti glued onto fishing line from the bead store and at the other end are little clear/pink seed beads glued to the side of the tin.  This took paitence and tweezers but I'm happy with the results!

15  Buckle top & Snap Skirt from house dress, kinda western in CHALLENGE 2 ENTRIES by grannystylee on: June 24, 2005 01:25:30 PM
Thrift store finds:

 $1.50: Floral vintage house dress
 $1.00: Striaght necked Tank top
$1.00: Vinyl belt with funky western buckle
     .27cents: sales tax
Total $3.77

I wandered around the shop looking for something to grab my attention and this is what I came home with.  I saw that the gathered yoke part of the dress (right abovr the bust line) would be cool on  a drop waisted skirt and the existing silver/pearly snaps could remain on the front to get in and out of the thing.  I lined it with extra fabric from the bottom of the dress.  I used one of my old skirts for the pattern.

I am so happy with how it turned out!  I feel very accomplished!

The top took about 3 hours.  my first idea didn't turn out so there was a bit of head scratching and seam ripping.
I used a piece of black elastic to look like a belt on the top.  A combinaton of sewing and hot glue (black) attatched the buckle.

The skirt took over 4 hours.  I was very careful, took my time.

16  Felt Glasses/Sunglasses Case in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by grannystylee on: June 22, 2005 12:14:09 PM
This is my first project post, hope it sticks!

I made both of these glasses cases for gifts.  Super easy and cute.  One was for my friends 27th Birthday (Saturn Returns) it has an exrta pocket inside.  For closure I sewed a ribbon to the top flap and a vintage button to the front. A button hole would be good too or velcro.
