1  PDQ Hat Pic! in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by StarStitches on: March 08, 2006 08:46:24 PM
I finished this hat in about 2 hours, maybe less? It really did work up pretty darn quick! I didn't keep track of the stitches very well, so it came out a little bit big, but it's still super cute and I love it!  Cheesy

4  Recycled Laundry Soap Box!~Tutorial in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by StarStitches on: May 14, 2005 10:51:38 PM
Awhile back I switched from using liquid soap to powdered soap. Because I swear it has a stronger scent, and I like that! So after I did the eighty loads, that the box claims to provide, I didn't want to throw the box out because it's so cute with it's little handle and top!
So...here's my recycled laundry soap box project!

So you'll need to empty the box really well, because the soap tends to stick, I even took my vacuum to it!

Next I carefully removed the handles on each side and primered the box with regular spray paint, just to get the neon glow off!

Then I took the dried box inside and started decoupaging it with Mod Podge and old romance comics from the sixties
(oh how I love these!)

I left out some spaces so I could glue on other embellishments later.

Next I covered the empty spaces with some buttons and sequins, I even added some sequins to the handle!

Punched two holes in the top lid and in the middle, added elastic and a button closure.

Wah-La! Now I have a cute and kitschy box, perfect for holding my latest knitting or crochet projects!

I still have to figure what to do with the little green scoop that comes with the soap though, any ideas?

Fabulous! I have some black chenille left over from my x-mas scarfs, and I just got a deal on some greenish & blue varigated fun fur yarn. I can't wait to try something like this!!

Whoo Hoo! Lookie what I made  Grin
It's very small, more like an evening bag.

I've made a couple of the "cemo-caps" this year for xmas presents with fleece--Super Easy!
Here's a pic. You can't really tell, but the hat is a light pink.

Hey algebraashley those look nice. I've been using "life of the party" products too.
it's nice to know they have a web site.

Here's some more soaps that I've made. I made the star shape separately, using ice cube trays for molds.
Anyway, how do I get those annoying air bubbles to go away? (it's kinda hard to see from the photos) The air bubbles are collecting to the corners of the stars and on the bottom of the soap. I remember reading some where that you can spray some kind of solution on the soap while it's cooling to make the bubbles disapear. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
