11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Black, Velvet, Magenta+ 1/2 hr.... on: June 19, 2005 06:27:02 PM
I am Grin with this.

The Awesome Material

Matching purse, which is why I bought the pink and black stuff in the first place...

Side... please, the yellow straps aren't there in real life, That's your Imagination..
And the top. There are cable ties in the front darts. They just slid right in the already existing seam....
Basically, I cut off the front part of an unflattering dress, (wide straps, too much of an albeit awesome pattern) the back part of another unflattering dress (too short, sleeveless, turtleneck) trimmed, hemmed, sewed together. Amazingly, the curves matched, so this was so easy. but I don't think I'd find the stuff again, esp. since from Thrift shop.
12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Abandoning Donut Store Style Waistbands on: June 15, 2005 07:50:02 PM
If anyone's been a waitress at those Food/Coffee shops (Robin's Donuts, Mc Donalds, Tim Hortons..or even Shopper's Drug Mart) where it is Mandatory to have Old Lady Pants, with the waistband up to your Chest, (usually with pleats) you know what I'm talking about....

I have 2 pairs of pants like this from the Thrift store, that fit awesome- they're also a little bit stretchy, which doesn't look good on me, and if they were only 2 inches lower they would be super cool. I have no problem cutting them down, then stitching...until I would get to the zipper, which I would be ruining if I cut through it. Any suggestions? Like a zipper stop? or anything

Edit: I just found something Like this topic, only it was with jeans. So this is different...and Shoot, I wanted to link it but I can't find it again.

This might be it. And the pants I have DO need to be trimmed down. Yay!
