1  restyled leather cowboy boots in Shoes: Completed Projects by ragamufyn on: July 05, 2008 10:37:04 PM

I painted these boots last weekend at the Miami Artisans Guild's Sunday Crafternoon.  Everyone got a shoe or two and restyled them to fit their fancy.

2  glitzy sequin ball in Winter Holidays by ragamufyn on: January 25, 2008 04:17:58 PM

I've been in an ornament making mood this year.  Here's one that I made with sequins... about 600 of them attached with little sequin pins and silver beads.

The husband thinks it looks like Pinhead.

I had no idea when I started that this little bugger was going to take around 2 hours to do.  I started another one but had to run back to the LCS for more sequin pins.  The first box of pins only had 800!  (only 800?!)

I remember my grandmother always had plenty of sequins and pins around for craft projects as a child.  I'll have to get some of her ideas for some future ornament making projects.

I may have repetitive stress disorder when I get done with these.

7  Re: Gaucho Pants in Designer Clothing Homage by ragamufyn on: August 20, 2005 02:49:14 PM
I made these

that are here

by using a pattern that I got form Jo Ann's.  I looked online but couldn't find it.  I'll try and post the pattern number when I get back from vacation!

I think if you had a skirt and wanted to turn it into Gaucho pants that you could just cut straight up to the crotch area without cutting any fabric out and turn it inside out and sew up one leg and down the other.  Just make sure you leave plenty of room in the crotch!

8  Re: Dreadlocks in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by ragamufyn on: August 15, 2005 07:30:18 PM
Holy 16 pages of dreadlock info!  I guess my dreads are around 8-9 years old.  I started them using the ol' wash without conditioning and wore a wool tam for the first 6 months.  I heard natural fiber hats are best for starting dreads cuz they stimulate the hair to knot up vs. acrylic hats.  Can anyone verify this?  Then about a year into the project I discovered a whole lota blonde haired kids over at Knotty Boy with dreads and tried some of their products.

When I started I just let them form themselves and pulled apart the pieces that looked like they wanted to separate.  If I had it to do over I think I would have sectioned my hair and rolled and twisted it for a better manicured look.  It's just that I have pieces of hair from all over my head now locked up together in one dread! oops!

Soooooo, I was thinking of bleaching and dying a couple dreads like, hot pink, maybe, but have always wanted to keep my hair as natural as possible.  Now that I see the fake dreads people are making and am thinking that that's probably the way to go for me.  Any suggestions on how to attach a couple to some dreads?  I guess it could be removable, right?

Here's a picture of my dreads a few months ago.  Sorry for the Wonder Woman handbag shot.  It's the only good picture of them I could find at the moment!

More rasta godess clothes...
I made a Bob muscle T this morning and a pair of coulots (sp?) the pants are great for yoga (great for pretzelizing yourself!) and have the same green and gold athletic trim for the waistband.
