1  Re: Perfect Pin-Up Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by thefloridagurl on: September 10, 2010 09:34:56 AM
As mentioned in the post above, I have received as well, and here is what I got.

The big item is a burlesque cape, made of purple velvet-y fabric with a ribbon to tie it shut (I had to make the picture brighter in order to show the details better):

The medium is a glass for coffee, buttons or the little secrets a woman wants to keep to herself:

One small item is a ring with a button and a bow attached to it :-) :

The other small is a pair of stud earrings with red bows:

Thanks for crafting for me, swawesome!!!

My partner has received, and I know she is busy at the moment, so I think shell be okay with me posting my items. I have, btw, also received today and post them seperately in a sec :-)

My big item was a jewellry box, covered in leo with a pin-up on top. Inside, to protect the rather fragile items, I covered it in red felt:

My medium item is a cosmetic bag, made of blue fabric with hibiscus flowers. Swawesome told me she is more of a winter colour type, so I found this fabric and thought it was perfect:

And my two small items are hair flowers / hair pins. You can put them in your hair to just prettify yourself, or you can even clip them onto the edge of a coat sleeve or something to wear them as brooch:

I am happy that swawesome liked what I made her, and I had one hell of a time crafting!!!

5  Funky cupcake kit as birthday present - Zebra Edition (pic heavy) in Completed Projects by thefloridagurl on: March 09, 2010 01:04:27 PM
A very good friend will celebrate her birthday this upcoming Saturday, and with her, I am always at a loss at what to get for her. She is great with receiving handmade gifts, but I didnt want to take it over the top this time and got her something she AND her husband can put to good use.

I put together a little kit for making cupcakes. Me and MY hubby always argue what flavor to make, what frosting etc. so here is the idea - I got her cupcake mixes to make both pirate muffins as well as fairy muffins. Hubby has no point to argue anymore. Smart, no?

The whole thing doesnt just stand inside box, of course. You might not be able to see, but I made a little tote out of craft paper to keep the sprinkles, the mix for the cupcake dough and also the bag for the liners in place.

I added matching sprinkles for both mixes - 4 flavours of chocolate for the pirate muffins, and fours flavours of... well, PINK for the fairy muffins.

This bag holds the cupcake liners.

There is this cute little caf in Frankfurt where I always go to when I am in the area called "We love Cupcakes" where they give out promotional stickers. I found these very appropriate :-) - and arent they just the cutest thing EVER?

And, last but not least, I made a birthday card as well:

Oh, and in case you are wondering - the box is a used tangerine crate I still had around (never EVER toss these out - they can be used for millions of craft projects, I tell you!!!) and just covered the ugly sides with craft paper.

So what do you think - yay or nay???

6  Meet CatBear! in Halloween Costumes by thefloridagurl on: November 04, 2009 01:54:32 PM
I call this a Halloween costume gone wrong...

I decided pretty much last minute to actually go to this Halloween party I have been invited to. No costume. What to do? Take that scoodie I made and simply attach kitty ears. Et Voila - instant kitty kat.

No idea what I was thinking when making the ears. Not much, I guess. That was the birth of...

CatBear has a severe disability by birth - his mother apparently had a fling with a bear, which resulted in his deformed ears. Try not to stare at them, it might make him unconfortable.

CatBear got very popular during the Halloween night, kept me warm and cozy and was a GREAT conversation starter!!!

Thanks for looking ;-) !

9  tobacco bags for the smokers among us in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by thefloridagurl on: September 09, 2009 12:32:06 PM
I know smoking is bad, but I got inspired by a fellow co-worker who rolls his own smokes. I came up with these - although maybe a bit girly all over, but I love how they turned out!

Me likey ;-) - and you?

10  old worn-out 50s table into... THIS! (image heavy-ish) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by thefloridagurl on: April 08, 2008 11:12:48 PM
I got some really cool 50s furniture from my sisters in-laws, but this table was just ridiculous. It had a great shape, but the colour? Not so much...

So I broke out my paints and got going...

First - a teaser *lol*...

See how ugly it was??? It is HUGE, and this colour makes it look even bigger. Great shape though. You can see here that I also cut off the pointy edges (they caused major bruises on my legs, so they had to go).

And this faux wood almost made me gag every time I looked at it.

So I gathered my supplies... and started priming first.

In-progress shots:

And voila - two days later, I was done!

I love it to pieces, and it matches my 50s Rockabilly living room perfectly!!!

The total cost for remodeling this baby was around 10 (around $15) for sanding paper and varnish.

Tell me what you think! CC is mucho appreciated!
