1  Purplish Snowball Quilt for Baby in Quilting: Completed Projects by BlooCanoe on: July 14, 2008 09:33:54 AM
Hi Everyone:

I don't usually get to share pics since I don't have a dig camera  Roll Eyes, but I gave this baby blanket to a good friend for her baby shower and someone kindly took a few pics for me.  Its not perfect but hopefully baby won't mind. Smiley

The pattern is a snowball block, the whole thing is 100% cotton flannel and for that reason I didn't put any batting in since I figured it would be warm enough on its own.  The colours are really intense, which doesn't show up terribly well in the pics, but I think the closeup picture gives you a better idea of the colours.  I knew their baby room was lavender and I wanted it to match somewhat.  My favourite part, I think, is the backing fabric.  Smiley

Yay! I finished something quilty! Smiley  It's very nice to do something small and quick, considering my current "real" quilt project I started 3 years ago...  Roll Eyes

Thanks for looking!

OK, the "separated at birth" shot is officially the funniest thing I have seen recently.  I'm so glad you like him, pharmgirl... he was the only thing I could think of to make when you said you would like pharmacy-related crafts!  Cheesy

(just a few comments - the dpn holder is from Grumperina's tut, and the Booga Bag is made with Patons SWS which I felted for the first time and would totally recommend for this pattern).

Thank you for posting pics of everything and I'm just thrilled that you're happy with your parcel! Especially because.... I received last night too! And I'm glad you feel spoiled because you spoiled the PANTS off of me!  Kiss  Kiss

Bow down to pharmgirl, y'all, she is the mistress of spoily swappage.
She sent me THREE (yes, three) skeins of dyed-by-herself seafoamy beaded goodness:

Closeup of the lovely teeny beads:

AND, as if that wasn't enough, there are TWO (yes, TWO) skeins of some of the most gorgeously coloured sock yarns ever (if I wasn't me, I would be so jealous of me right now!)

Can you beleive it? Any suggestions for sock patterns that would show this yarn off to the max (toe-up patterns preferably)?

And as if I wasn't already flabbergasted by pharmgirl's generosity, there are these wonderful treats which a girl can never have enough of:
Wonderful stitch markers!

Gorgeous tatted bookmark!

Cute mini-skein of fun!

And the softest, prettiest fibres ever so I can finally bust out my spindle and see what this spinning is all about!

Added to which (yes, there's more), pharmgirl also sent me TWO (yes two) bars of dark chocolate (well.. there used to be two, but there is one remaining at the moment).  Grin  As well as a few cute wee souvenirs from her new hometown.

Pharmgirl, thank you SO, SO MUCH for the amazing yarns and treats. I was so amazed at all the things that I kept pulling out of the box! You really outdid yourself and I'm so lucky to have had you for a partner!  Kiss  I'm just in awe at everything you made for me - I am so feeling the swap love right now, people! Kiss Kiss Kiss

(And also, thank you for supplying the pics for this dig-camera-challenged craftster!)

I know I said AGES ago that I would post pics of my project... well, better late than never!  Roll Eyes
BlondieKate sent me fabulous yarn she dyed herself so that I could make the Dayflower scarf.
Here is a pic (on my scanner, no dig camera  Tongue): it is still a WIP since I had to stop and work on an xmas present that needs to be sent early, but I'm 3/4 done the scarf and hope to finish soon.  This is my first lace project and after several false starts (I should know better than to mix red wine with learning a new technique  Roll Eyes) I found it really easy to do.
Pic doesn't do it justice since you can't really see all the beautiful purples in with the blue (looks greeny-blue on my screen, but in real life is purpley blue), but I just loved working with this yarn and I wanted to share.  Smiley
Oh - and she also made me the little knitting charm that I'm using to mark the pattern repeats!

Wooo! I just received from vegbee! I was slumming around all day nursing my cold, when it occurred to me to go check the mail. And here was a lovely surprise from vegbee, nestled in a half-size manilla envelope if you can beleive it!

She sent me a blue pouch- kind of like a travel wallet or money belt- to keep things in when I'm walking/hiking or just don't want to load up my pockets. It's adjustable and zips shut. Perfect! This will be great when I'm out and want to carry my keys/money without dragging a bag around with me!

One suggestion I had made for a "flat sewn item" was something I could keep a tube of lipbalm in as I always lose them, so she made the red pocket keychain. Isn't this design the greatest? I already tried it out with a tube and it fits perfectly! What an amazing design! The pic doesn't do it justice but it is red with a gold print, sooo pretty.

The necklaces are great and fit perfectly- the blue one is bunched up on the scanner but it has lots of little dangly bits on it, so cool.  And the badges gave me the giggles... they say:
"Have you HUGGED your Postal Clerk today?"
"Have you THROTTLED your Postal Clerk today?"
"Go Postal!"

thanks so much vegbee, everything is super!  Kiss I love it!   Grin

EDIT: Just wanted to say sorry for the sucky pics but I have no camera- have to pile everything on my long-suffering scanner.   Roll Eyes

I am so BLOWN AWAY by mjadams!   Grin Kiss

I picked up my parcel from her today at lunch from the PO.  She fulfilled my wish of a wire wrapped necklace, and it is STUNNING!  It is lovely greeney-bluey and clear pink stones, so beautiful! I will post a pic tonight! I love it!

Added to which, she included Stitch and Bitch.... which was also on my wish list!

Added to which, she included Stitch and Bitch Nation! so... that's like, three wishes now!   Shocked

Added to which, she included the two most gorgeous skeins of lavender cotton which I love!  (And I need to stop petting them since I am technically at work!)

mjadams, this is just the most terrifically generous package! Thank you so much! I love everything and I kiss your feet!  *mwah mwah*  Grin What a lovely, lovely craftster you are!

Please post pics if you can so everyone can see the loveliness!

EDITED: to add the pic of my beautiful necklace!  Grin

Yay! I got the most wonderful package today from BlooCanoe!  She totally spoiled me and sent me TWO of my wishes!  She made me some very cool fabric/ribbon cuffs that snap AND she knitted me the most fabulous pair of fingerless mitts!!!!  fingerless mitts are my equivalent to the usual shoe or purse obsession.....a girl can never have too many pairs.  She used this yummy blue and white yarn that looks denimy when knitted all up!  Bloo, I hope you post your pics, I will post some action shots when I get a chance, but it might not be for a couple of days!!!
thank you again Bloo!
knottydottie  Smiley

I'm so very glad you like everything, knottydottie!
Here is a pic, since I could easily fit these into my poor, abused scanner (you should see the crafty stuff I keep trying to shove into my poor scanner):

ps. I realize that everything looks bloo blue, but the bottom cuff is black and grey, honest!  Wink

We interupt this turtle program to bring you this important message: loves2experiment is amazing!!!

She sent me the most beautiful, and beautifully made, wristlet purse. I love it. I love it so much, if I had imagined the perfect wristlet it still wouldn't be as beautiful as the one she made me!   Kiss It looks like something you'd find in a high-end chic boutique, and since I would probably get kicked out of a high-end chic boutique ("get that scruffy girl out of here! *boot*"), receiving one in a swap is just heaven.

THANK YOU, loves2! I will post a pic soon! I am going to a wedding in a month, now I have the perfect purse to wear, all I need to do is find a dress to match it!   Cheesy

And here it is, my beautiful, beautiful purse thanks to the lovely and talented loves2experiment!  Grin Kiss The colours are a little brighter than in this pic.

OMG, I am going to feel so glam when I wear this!  Cheesy

Yay! I love my shrine stuff.  The shrine is on my special little shelf of mementoes, and the box with the affirmations is on my bedside table so that I can read one before I go to bed and have sweet dreams!  Smiley  My friend saw them the other day, and said, "you know, everybody needs more things like these in their life." I couldn't agree more! yay for batgirl!

I love the way the flowers look on your panta! I'm so glad I thought to include one of the same yarn I made the panta with... honestly, I was just about to send the parcel of roving/flowers and I was struck by this thought "hey... wait a minute.... I sent BG a panta before Christmas! I should make her a matching flower! duh!"   Roll Eyes

I went back and checked my files and I did take some crap scans of what I sent you, here they are (but I much prefer your action shots! and the squirrel is awesome!).  Unfortunately the black one with the beads is just a blob in the pic. I dyed the roving with kool-aid.

Pudruff: the pattern for these is on a Lion Brand website I think, if you check skootymiss' wish list from round 6 she has a link to the pattern. They're pretty easy, I hadn't crocheted in years and found these simple to make.
