1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: New Website. on: October 30, 2013 07:05:05 AM
Aww.. those are cute!

I like the site a lot.. feels homie and full of color and you can never go wrong with that! All I would suggest is get that footer updated with a little more information.

Good Luck!
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: The (new) Etsy critique thread! on: October 30, 2013 06:57:14 AM
Hi Everyone,

I am the "new girl"..lol Well I have been in business since 2010 and always did mostly local stuff. Rare would I get an order off Facebook that was outside the city limits. Well my husband and I decided to bring all our stuff online. Open an Etsy shop and eBay. Now I am not too knowledgeable with websites and all but we have been doing this for both eBay and Etsy for just little over a month now. It's been great!

Anyways, here is my Etsy store

Now my husband has been a web designer (mostly just hobby) and he is the one that does the critiques. But I thought I come on here and maybe get some advice and may give him a pointer or two Smiley

Now I read the sticky topic about the top things to have a successful Etsy shop. Well I believe I am hitting on all those except for the shipping outside the US. I wanted to get a little more experience under my belt before I went global. But please point out anything you think I need to adjust. My husband updated my November banner last night Smiley
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Business Name thread - Get opinions and ideas about names for your business! on: October 30, 2013 06:39:14 AM
Well I have been thru this process twice. My first business name was "Polka Dotz and Whatnotz" (yes with the z) lol. I was always fascinated with polka dots and I was simply doing a bucket for a friend and I was happening doing vinyl polka dots.. Well one thing lead to another and "Polka Dotz and Whatnotz" came about.

Maybe your business name is sitting right in front of you and don't even know it Wink

Now my second business name is "Polka Dotz Diva". My husband came up with this one. We were kinda flat and sometimes re-branding your business can be a really great thing. Anyways, my husband does web designing on the side.. mostly hobby.. and came to me with the marketing strategy.. I was a little skeptical bc I did not want people to think "Polka Dotz Diva" "man isn't she conceded". But I have had so much positive feedback and the name just sticks! At least I was told by a couple of my customers Wink

So maybe you can get the old man/hubby to come up with something. Who knows, he may surprise Smiley

Hope this may help someone.

Thanks Smiley
