1  DIY Map Heels in Shoes: Completed Projects by TheGlobalChameleon on: July 14, 2015 10:34:16 AM

I found a DIY Comic Book Heels project and immediately went to the store for Mod Podge to try it out myself!  While the comic book idea was awesome, I myself am a fan of everything TRAVEL, so it seemed appropriate to instead have a map theme for my customized heels!

While the project was time consuming, it was totally worth it!  I found an old map and cut out small jagged pieces.  I then added mod podge to the heel and stuck the pieces on, then layered with mod podge over.  I repeated until the heels were completely covered and then covered the entire heel in mod podge again.  Let dry, and then applied one more coat of mod podge and let sit overnight.  I cant believe how easy it was.
You just need to have patience and steady hands to create this awesome project!
I have more pictures and the tutorial on my blog http://www.globalchameleon.com/?p=938 if you want to see more!
I would love to try this project with pages from my favorite book, things that I've been meaning to scrapbook, recipes...so many ideas!
If you have an afternoon free, try out this project!  Id be interested to see what else people come up with!

2  Glue for picture frame?? in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by TheGlobalChameleon on: February 18, 2014 07:36:07 AM
My boyfriend and I just said our goodbyes this weekend before he is deployed to Afghanistan so what better way to keep myself busy and thinking of him than decking out my new room with photographs of us and starting fun new crafts?!
I made him this picture frame for his birthday but it didn't travel well (between a 18 hour car ride and two flights).

By the time I got it to him the Army men were falling off.  Here is my detailed tutorial that clearly needs to be edited http://theglobalchameleon.blogspot.com/2013/08/sunday-craft-army-men-picture-frame.html

Essentially I hot glued the army men to the picture frame and then spray painted the entire thing.  It was one of those projects that I saw something similar and was like, I can do this!  Didn't really think about how I could get it to hold up.  So my question is...what kind of glue do you think would work best?  Should I spray some kind of adhesive over the army men after they are glued down and then a coat of spray paint over?  I have leftover army men so I am dying to make this picture frame this week for myself.  Thanks fellow Craftsers!

3  Candy Corn Picture Frame in Halloween Decor and Parties by TheGlobalChameleon on: October 17, 2013 10:56:16 PM

Tonight I got together with my girlfriends for a wine & craft night and we decided to make candy corn picture frames!

These are so simple to make!  I went to the dollar store and bought picture frames, school glue and candy corn.

My girlfriends and I caught up on our lives and gabbed while we made these- we had so much fun!

I glued my candy corn down in a pattern I was happy with and let dry.  Unfortunately the school glue didn't work very well as the candy corns kept slipping off!  I used some craft glue from Michaels instead and it worked much better but I am thinking that something like Elmers glue would work even better.

I loved the way the picture frame turned out but the frame won't keep for very long as it is very easy for the candy corn to melt- does anyone have advice on how to make it keep better?  Maybe some kind of adhesive to spray over the entire frame?

Here is a link to the tutorial I posted on my blog for some more pictures- my cousin kept eating the candy corn off of her frame!  Hope you enjoy and any other advice would be great Smiley

9  DIY Handprint Spiders in Halloween Decor and Parties by TheGlobalChameleon on: October 12, 2013 07:29:04 PM

I made these supa cute footprint ghosts with my nieces so I decided to try a similar project and make handprint spiders!  They had so much fun! These are the easiessssst projects to do with kids and you can kind of contain the mess.  Just dont leave your 5 year old alone with all the paints :-P

I had my nieces paint some leaves which provided 30 minutes of entertainment and then we started our hand print ghosts; painted our canvas orange, dipped hand in grey paint and then pressed painted hand onto canvas and let dry.  Paint cobwebs, let dry.  add on googley eyes.  Told ya it was easy!  If you want to see more pictures and instructions, you can view them on my blog.   Smiley.
