41  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Colourful Rainbow Wall Hanging Made From Japanese Furoshiki on: October 21, 2013 05:22:25 AM
Furoshiki are squares of cloth used to wrap presents in Japan.  I picked up 9 of them from Taobao but you can find them in lots of places online.

I just sewed them all together!  Quick and colourful!  I really want to make a quilt out of them too.

Some of my favourite details...

There are a few more detailed pics on my blog and info on how I bought the furoshiki...it involves navigating a website entirely in Chinese though so might be easier to check out Ebay for them if you want to give this a go!
42  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Romantic Moomin Painting on: October 20, 2013 04:17:17 AM

I did this painting for mine and my bf's first place together.  It's pretty soppy and romantic but I love it.  Of course I copied it directly from a screenshot of a Moomin episode.  It's pretty big and done with poster paint and a permanent marker.
43  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Happy Hippy Rainbow Dreamcatcher on: October 20, 2013 03:48:48 AM
I used to make dreamcatchers and sell them when I was a kid.  I saw one in a store a few weeks ago but thought I could make  it cheaper myself (turned out to be more expensive with all the beads I bought but I like mine more anyway).

I included a lot of little trinkets that had meaning for me. Mostly cat charms I picked up in Tokyo!

Put some leftover yen in there too...

I was hoping to get the beads to go in rainbow order from outside to inside but they got a bit messed up when I pulled the string tight.

I'm excited to try this again.  There's a tutorial and more pics on my blog.

I love this so much!  I'm also a big fan of halloween and pumpkins.  Unfortunately I can't crochet at all so I will have to just admire yours!
