11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / *Loteria Dresser* on: August 11, 2006 04:50:35 PM
I've had this dresser since I was little and at one point I painted white over the original wood, but never did much else to it. I bought sheets of loteria cards recently and thought I'd add some color!

I did this the same way I did the tarot card coffee table:

12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / *Shrine to Dracula/Mina* on: August 11, 2006 04:40:25 PM
In the shrine-a-long thread I was talking about creating a shrine to Dracula...at first I was going to glue the pages of the actual book, cut out a block and make the shrine in there. After gluing 100 pages I gave up! So I dug through my craft room & found 2 mini old-fashioned suitcases...so I decided to make 2 shrines - 1 to the Drac and one to his true love: Mina. Hope you like them!

Here's the 2 together - connected by black lace

Drac shrine

Mina shrine

And here are the backs...not sure if I should do anything to this part since they'll probably be displayed with the backs to the wall...but I don't want them to look unfinished...thoughts?

Thanks for looking!
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / *Shrine to the Ridiculous* on: June 18, 2006 09:17:21 AM
For this shrine I was inspired by DevilDoll's Man's Ruin shrine:

I collect a lot of ridiculous things...clothing tags, rubber fish, grass skirts, dirt...and it adds up and takes over my apartment (which in the land of precious real estate is disasterous). So I decided to put a lot of it to good use all in one shot - and the Shrine to the Ridiculous was born! Enjoy...

The whole shebang (I used a basket from the grocery store with the handles removed as the base):

The invisible woman as the figurehead (vegas-style):

I didn't have a sexy lady, so I subsituted a rubber fish with fake eyelashes:

Details of the knick-knacks on the bottom:

And...that lei in the background? It lights up - Behold!

Yeah I know, I threw up in my mouth a little too. Feel free to comment.

Oh, and this is a shrine I completed for the "Shrine A Long," which anyone is welcome to join at any time:

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / *But I'm a Jack n Coke kinda girl...* on: June 05, 2006 12:07:14 PM
So my sister bought me these beautiful martini glasses...the only thing is that I don't exactly drink martinis. ever. Here's a link:

Regardless, they are pretty and I want to think of something decorative to do with them. I really like the idea of something hanging-light related but have a lot of tin ceilings. Then I thought of pouring candles into them...But I want to make them more kitschy! I guess I just want to see if anyone has any other ideas. Thanks for any help, craftistas!

17  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / *What Would Frida Do (WWFD)? Swap - Angel needed!* on: May 11, 2006 10:55:44 AM
Hi craftsters!

"DianaJeanne" in the What Would Frida Do? swap has pretty much been flaked on. Her partner is having a bunch of life drama or whatever. Luckily, the stuff she sent was "returned to sender," so the angel stepping in could actually become her recieving swap partner as well. All the stuff everyone has done in this swap is awesome so far and we have a really great group.

Please let me know if you're interested! Thanks!

*Loose rules of what to send:

All large (main) items should be crafted but the smaller ones can be store bought

Your package should be roughly:
1 large crafted item
+ 1-2 medium items (crafted or store bought)
OR 3-4 small items (crafted or store bought)

Obviously this can be mixed and matched: for example, I could do 1 large crafted item + 1 medium crafted item + 2-3 small items (crafted/store bought), etc.

20  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / *Mo' Jewelry! - Picture Heavy* on: March 13, 2006 06:53:54 PM
Here's another batch...

My favorite skull beads with orange rocks

Green & blue beaded wire bracelet

Experiment with wire wrapping on blue beads - I didn't like the beads at first but I like how these turned out...

"Drip" style earrings - love these beads!

Long spaced pearl necklace - ripped from the fashion mags

Hot orange - not sure if these are done

Big wooden beads - more fashion inspired

The little lost earring without a match....became a grrr necklace

And last but not least - some earrings made for me by my mom - crafty genes!

I also made a necklace out of a chunky chain from the hardware store - I'll post when she takes a pic for me.

Please let me know what you think. <3 <3 <3
