1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Newish Painting - Blue Tresses on: March 03, 2011 01:52:15 PM
This is gorgeous! I see you have a print of it available on Etsy! YAY! Think I may have to buy one for the nursery - I think it would look awesome in my new baby girl's room. I also just stalked your blog. I'm so in love with your work! You've got a new fan:D
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: I made a hoodie, and it's not crap! So excited!!! on: January 09, 2011 11:21:15 AM
Thanks! Aside from my wedding dress, it's the first item of clothing I've ever made that I can actually wear outside of the house. It's not see thru, oddly shaped, and none of the seams have gaping holes in them;)

I love this hoody! good job! =]

WOW! I love the embroidered rosettes, they really make this extra adorable. Hard to believe it was a big ugly sweatshirt before. I wish I had one just like it!

This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! I can't believe you got fused plastic to look so lovely and delicate. It really does look like something someone could wear to a ball or on their wedding day.

I ADORE those plaid ones! Great idea for using left over scraps. I may have to try this myself - I could always use cute new panties.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm pregnant. I'm also a cheap bastard, and hate to spend money on clothes, especially clothes I'll only be using for 4 more months. So, after years of lurking on t-shirt surgery and craftster and not actually making a whole heck of a lot, I've suddenly started sewing recons like a madwoman. My husband says he always thought that pregnant women "nesting" was a big bullshit cliche, but he's pretty sure I'm nesting like a motherfucker.

Anyway, here's what I finished today - a hoodie dress! Thank you, .75 t-shirt sale at my local thrift store:D

I'm super proud of this. It's the second most complicated thing I've ever made.

The hood and all the trimming is made from a green XL graphic tee. I think the hood is a little too tall, but I'm ok with it.

My main screwup is that it's very snug in the bust. I keep forgetting how uber huge my preggo boobs are now.

Anyway, that's it! I wish I'd thought to take pics in progress. It took me three days and a lot of screw ups, seam ripping, repositioning, and trial and error to make it. Hope you like it:D

This is great! I'm dying to see what the dress looks like on, though. The details look fantastic:D
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: T-shirt to preggo yoga pants! on: January 05, 2011 01:39:46 PM
very cute and I like the placement of the applique , good placement can really make an outfit and you hit the nail on the head nice job

Thanks! I'm a total sewing novice, and have never really done applique, so I had to play around with it a bit. It mainly involved holding the patch in place while wearing the pants, and just moving it around until I thought it looked right.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / T-shirt to preggo yoga pants! on: January 05, 2011 01:32:16 PM
I'm 5 months pregnant, and I'm at a point where most maternity pants are still too big for me, but I definitely can't fit into my jeans anymore. I remembered making yoga pants a couple years back from a oversize t-shirt, which was super easy. You can find the tutorial here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=299282.0 I decided to make some sweet comfy pants with a belly band and a drawstring so I could adjust them as I grow.

The cicada applique is from a t-shirt my husband silkscreened with one of my prints. Makes me feel like these pants need a little green in them somewhere.

What do you think? C & C appreciated!
