1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / want to make a documentary or have YOU make one with me but have no clue how to on: May 11, 2009 05:46:47 PM

Wondering if any of you can help me out.
I have had a few interesting events occur and want to film it as it happens but have no experience with a camera/videocamera and no idae how to make a documentary.
This is something that I think is an interesting story and if for no other reason other than personal importance would like to have filmed.

The story:

I am a 21 year old female who, along with my twin brother was raised in Toronto by a single Pakistani mother.
My father is french, who I have never met, who had a relationship with my mother in Pakistan 22 years ago and when she got pregnant she moved to Canada to have us.
I looked for him online never found him.
My mother got cancer when we were 3, survived, worked full time, raised us alone, did her PhD, and became a prof/writer/editor and died in 2007 from a reoccurance of cancer.
About 6 weeks ago on a google search I found my father. We've been emailing, chatting, phoning ever since and he lives in France with his wife of 6 years.
I want to go meet him and I want it to be filmed in some way or the other. Interviews, filming our first meeting, before and after thoughts, etc.

I don't know how to go about it, but am interested in any opinions or suggestions.

I am a student and have no money to offer you, this would be a creative collaboration between us.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / eiffel tower purse on: March 12, 2009 09:05:15 PM
Hello all,

I am in awe of this purse from Sex and the City movie because I am in love with Paris.
However, 3000$ for a purse ain't happenin' and neither is the non-crystalized $400 version...I may love one of the most expensive cities in the world but that don't mean I am rich...plus, I'm a student.

I am sure, and hopeful, that one (or more) of the amazing craft talents that read this could help me come up with a way of making a 3D eiffel tower purse....
Here is the version for sale:

I found one cheaper one but it's only in England and the topshop in the US doesn't have it (plus shipping to canada would be insane, anyway) but this cheaper looking one is fine too...anything eiffel tower i love.

HELP please!!

thanks  Kiss Kiss Kiss
3  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / WHERE TO GET SOLES on: October 02, 2008 03:32:10 PM

I am so desperate
I bought a pair of lovely moccasins without soles but have been wearing them as shoes...and of course tnow there is a hole in one of the bottoms but I just cannot throw them out!
What I'd like to do is just glue on (there's this fancy glue at the hardware store whose name I forget but it's good for such things) rubber soles on the botoom and the cobbler wants to charge 40$ to do it so I thought forget it, I'm sure I can do it, but nowhere on earth does it seem possible to buy one pair of (i'm size 7, if that matters) rubber soles for the outside of my beloved shoes!!!
I live in Toronto, have searched online ebay, google, walmart (evil), canadian tire....
I'm lost.
Thanks Kiss

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Advertisement for what? on: April 11, 2007 03:05:45 PM
Hello all.
Well, this is not really art but I love it so much that I thought it best fits under 'art'.
after days of fighting with my boyfriend, we made up and i started taking fun photos with his phone and took one that i now adore. it reminds me of some picture from a magazine, an ad or something.
what do you think it could advertise?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / dishwashing goop on: October 11, 2006 03:18:13 PM
hello all,
i don't know if this is the correct section but....anyway.
so, this summer i did a month study abroad in the LOVELY COSTA RICA and my most beloved souvenir is the dishwashing goop. It's called lavos del platos and basically what it is is it comes in a container (like a large margerine type container) and it's filled with thick blue goop and you use a sponge, dap it and it gets a tiny goop on it and when it's under water it's all soapy. it's much better than using dish washing liquid, in fact, it almost makes dishwashing FUN! I looked and couldn't find a picture online but oh man this stuff is off the chain. I kinda enjoy washing the dishes now....kinda sorta. anyway, so the tragic part is that i was stupid and only brought ONE back with me and who knows when i'll next return.  Huh and i'm running out  :'(So, i can either find a way to make it or a place to buy it here in the US of A. Anyone know what i'm talking about? Any ideas?
Mucho gracias.

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / transforming colour style on: August 26, 2006 03:25:47 PM
hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could advise me as to how to pretty much completely change my room. I love bright bright colours and have had so much colour in my room but now I feel like it looks a little childish and i don't like it anymore. I wanted to tone it down (the walls are white but I am willing to paint it) but still have colours. What I want ideally, is some sort of...well heh heh, it would be hard but I love the...dharma and greg style rooms....heh like very urban outfitters but for a poor student not a billionaire....urban outfitters is so expensive!  in terms of colours for the wall, (i suck at determining colour) i was thinking for a bit of the wall, maybe I could paint animal print since i'm addicted to it. Like, leopard or zebra, but any ideas on how to do that? also, i've mangaed to part with most of my posters, which is another thing i felt i had grown out of, but there are 3 i just can't seem to part with...any idea on ways to keep them without the room looking a big junky mess? Thanks so much!!!!

8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Facewash in Costa Rica on: June 29, 2006 07:49:23 AM
Greetings from Costa Rica,

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / vest - dress on: May 13, 2006 03:51:05 PM
So, I was in H&M and saw the most boootyful vest but it was too expensive so I want to make it. I'm not good at patterns or measuring but I was wondering if anyone knew how I could make a nice vest. I couldn't find a picture of the vest unfortunately, it was black with white polka dots and I belive it had a button on the front. Really any kind of cute vest.
I also fell in love witha  zebra print dress. It was basically just figure shaped but the collar was like a turtle neck I guess? It was really long so it kind of hung down, am I making sense? Like, it was like a turtle neck with too much fabric at the top or something so the neck part kind of fell with some extra fabric in front. Am I making sense? Anyway, thanks for any suggestions.

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cartman on: May 07, 2006 11:52:48 AM
so usually when I try to reconstruct since I suck majorly at measuring whatever it is ends up crap and it doesn't fit. SOMEWAY SOMEHOW this shirt turned out nicely! I had a plain balck t-shirt that was suffocating me so I cut it into a halter and  then ironed on a picture of CARTMAN looking AWESOME! I used my webcam to take the pic because I was too lazy to hook up the digi cam, that's why the pic is kinda crap. Here it is:
