I really like the ATCs!  What is a masterboard?

Thanks!  To make a masterboards, just take a piece of cardboard or sturdy paper, any size (I mostly use flattened Cheezeit boxes.  We love cheezeits up in this house), and randomly paint, glue, stencil, whatever all over it to cover the cardboard.  Then you have a background that can be cut into ATC or postcard shapes and further embellished.  It's fun to see how different the masterboards pieces look when cut up.  I really overthink when I art, so it's a nice release for me to not think about placement when I make masterboards. I'll try to remember to post before and after shots tomorrow so you can see what I mean.

Emily, love the pen holder bookmark, so cute and an awesome idea!!

I made a few ATCs from the mess on my desk today.  Then I got real with myself and admitted that I would need wayyy more than 3 ATCs to take a dent out of my teensie scraps that I can't seem to throw out. Who needs a drawer for tiny scraps, a drawer for small scraps, a drawer for medium scraps and a drawer for larger papers?  Me, I do...its insanity.  So, I think tomorrow I'll go glue crazy and make masterboards...easy breezy.

I'm hoping to art every day and I totally tried today, but I only ended up making a swap log booklet for my planner (which I totally have been needing, so I consider it a score!).  Here's how I'm leaving my crafty desk for the night...battles, battles were fought on that desk today.  My poor sewing machine. I pretty much go back and forth between sewing and arting, I'm equally messy with both. My favorite part is actually cleaning this kind of stuff up!

You guys have a sick sense of humor...I like it  Grin

Stellato...the colors in your painting are AMAZING, jealous of your skills.  Can't wait to see it finished.

Audio love the taxidermy head and my daughter would get a kick out of the Dino...the colors are perfect

Today I finished a crib blanket that my sisters friend asked me to make.  She sent me the fabrics and black bubble minky.  I've only used bubble minky on bibs and burp cloths, never on something as large as a blanket...does it normally ripple (or make them a bit wavy) on  the edges? you can see it at the top. I'm really critical of things I make (normal, right!), but it bothers me.  It's either the bubble minky's wacky personality, or the fact that I forgot to widen my stitch length around the border.  Either way, I'm gonna sleep on it before I decide if it's worth unpicking.

I have so much catching up to do, I'll have to scroll way up after I post.  I LOVE bowl holders, we use ours all the time!
So I've been busy making planner covers and collages this last week.  I made me and my sister (and a small random one) planner covers and I'm crazy for my scrappy fabric one, I'm totally going to make more of these to prep for an etsy shop I eventually hope to open.

Since I can't draw Sad I've been trying out collage..here's some of my fav 3 piece portraits and wack collage postcards that I've made this week
**i keep playing with the image size to make them smaller and I might be making them wonkier, so I'll just stop

I think I might use this craftalong specifically to force myself into making art every day.  I really wish I would stop overthinking art and just get nassy with it, this might be the perfect push!

Congrats RantyHippie!  Oooh baby girls!!  I always wanted a boy so I accidentally said "awww man!" out loud when I found out I was having a girl at my ultrasound (no judgement)...but eventually I calmed myself down about having to buy pink things and barbies (I was never girly girly) and how in the world would I keep her away from boys.  Cut to 10 years later and she's always been the absolute best thing I've ever crafted, I'm so thankful!  Side note: I bought the pink things and tons of Barbie stuff early on and she ended up being drawn to dirt, science, dragons and wolves, yay!

Along the baby lines....I finished another project today.  My sister in law requested bandana bibs for my new nephew Cruz.  I ended up using different fabric combos (so I can get feedback on which ones absorbed the best) and 3 different bandana styles/sizes.  I'm all about mixin it up.  I really really tried to use only my stash (half of them are), but my other sister in law bought me the joanns fabric calendar with a coupon for every month and I wouldn't want her to think I hated her gift (I'll have to prove it every month this year), so I added the awesome deer, x, and teepee fabric to my stash. I'm just not a rude person  Grin

Watsonc7, if I had an envelope scoreboard, my hubby would make the EXACT SAME COMMENT. I love him dearly, but he just doesn't get it. LOL!

It took awhile for him to get over that one...he even staged situations where the scoreboard could try to be more useful, like propped up by the dishes or garbage.  Nope, it still only scores paper, sorry boo.

UFO is unfinished object...kinda like WIP (work in progress). I use it when I have things that need something done with them, they aren't really "in progress"...that's how I use it anyway.

Man, that bread looks awesome too....crusty bread and brie, yummmmm!

January Challenge:
1.  There's not an actual craft that I want to give up on, but I have been trying to go through my craft space and filling a bin (or two) with fabric and randomness that I need to get rid of by sewing for charity, family, making gifts to add to my oops-I-didn't-remember-your-birthday-until-last-night "gift bin", or just flat out getting rid of.  I've finally separated out all the scrapbook paper I'm not crazy about and this month I'm hoping to make them into lots and lots of envelopes with my envelope-making scoreboard (My husband: "did you seriously BUY a plastic board that just folds paper"?!  If he would stop being so nosey he wouldn't have to get worked up over silly lil things).  I may also need to try to get a small box of randomness together to pawn off on someone in this craftalong...I have a hard time throwing anything away so I feel like my trash or treasure node may be blurred, so I'll post pics so people can decide for themselves when/if I get a box together.
2. I've been wanting to make a Junk Journal (click for pics) for FOREVER...I'm embarrassed now that I was actually scared to attempt one. I really need to challenge myself in control issues.  So I closed my eyes, took a breath and signed up for a junk Journal swap on swapbot so I was forced to make one....BLAST! I used a postcard I had gotten as the cover for the Journal, now I need lots and lots of handmade postcards so I can make a lot more. I think having my neutral/background papers organized into one bin helped me get through this...I wasn't digging in tons of bins, I got most of the papers from one place.
