21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: TARDIS Soda Machine/Snack Cabinet on: September 06, 2014 03:55:49 PM
I don't squee for much, but I will squee for this. Oh yes it rocks HARD!!!

And uh, how does the soda mechanism work?

To be honest I don't really know, the hubby did most of that. But it has a CO2 canister, a carbonator, some regulators, syrup pumps, and a fridge to keep the cold plate cold. Apparently there's lots of things online that show people how to build their own. I'll have to see if I can find the link he used.

So I finished the TARDIS like right on the 31st so I didn't get to submit it in time for last semesters games, but I still wanted to share the finished product! Cheesy There are more pictures here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=435544.0#axzz3CYUv2l6I

My husband loves soda and has been wanting to build his own soda machine forever. I told him he could be it had to fit with our movie room which meant it had to be built into a TARDIS. Surprisingly he complied. The body is built out of mostly plywood and MDF. The windows and Police Box signs are this stiff plastic stuff. I put vinyl over the plastic for the Police Public call signs. The top is one of those walkway lights you can get from your hardware store and we just painted it to match everything else.

It's quite large, but unfortunately NOT bigger on the inside Sad

We fit a microwave in there too. Just had to build a small shelf to put it on. The wiring and piping for the soda machine on the bottom area was the most difficult thing to figure out on this entire project.

We used LED puck lights to light everything up.

And here it is with me for scale. I'm 5'3" and I can stand up inside it.

I think I'm finally done! I might do one more coat on the large but then I'm just going to let it air out a bit and mail it off!!! So hopefully I'll be shipping at the beginning of next week at the latest.

Gah!!!! I can't wait to see whatever it is... so tempting just to click on a link... Grin

I hoping to get one more project in before the end of the month but I still haven't finished it... it's bunny's large so it's taking a bit of time and I keep getting distracted by the TARDIS in my house!!! I'll post those pictures as soon as that's completely done Smiley
But here's my largish (although not as many as I was hoping) end of semester project dump!

Battle/Challenge: July: Geography
Event: Foodology
Project Name: Tortellini Three Ways
Brief Description: I recently started watching Hetalia and had a random craving for some PASTA!!! Thank you Italy!!! So I picked up some tortellini from the store and had my hand at making some sauces. The green is a basil pesto sauce. I used this recipe to make some pesto and then took some of that, some cream cheese, and a bit of milk to make a creamier sauce. The red is just a regular tomato sauce from this recipe. For the white sauce, I mixed some butter, flour, shredded cheddar cheese, milk and powdered garlic to taste (garlics my favorite thing ever!!!). They were all very yummy and it was impossible to decide on a favorite. And it ended up in the same colors as the Italian flag!

Bonus: DIY Instructions Here
Event: Craftology
Project Name: Forest Notebook
Brief Description: The key component to this notebook is the string, it keeps everything together!
Project Picture:

Battle/Challenge: August: Battle Royale - FIRE!!!

Event: Craftology
Project Name: D20 Necklace
Brief Description: I love Magic and one of my favorite archetypes are red aggro decks and my favorite planeswalker has to be Chandra basically all things FIRE! So I made this necklace with a red die I got for playing some red decks recently.

I got almost nothing done for August.  IYP is eating up a LOT of my crafting time.  I'm still hoping to squeeze a couple of last minute projects in.  Including my research project.  Fingers crossed....

Amen to that, your large is taking what seems like forever! I have a couple more projects to post for this semester but I'm really sad that I'm not going to be able to complete all the prompts... oh well, I'll have to do better next semester!

I have the weekend to myself, so after I do a little bit of painting on my TARDIS, I'm going to finish _____ bunny's large and then I'll be able to mail it off soon! I'll just have to let it dry a bit.
