1  Re: Stash-Be-Gone-Along? in Knitalongs by Emily on: February 17, 2008 11:02:38 AM
I've fallen off the de-stash wagon!  Been yarn shopping 'just for the fun of it' at least twice already this year...and stitches is coming up next weekend, Oh well...I was really good in 2007 bought virtually nothing.  I predict 2008 will see the stash grow!  oops  Grin

I friend sent me all his mothers yarn, she past several years ago and he's just cleaning out her house.  He's one of the most generous people I know, so in that spirit, I'm donating it all to various charties after I knit it...

Here I've got 3 scarves and 4 hats for a homeless shelter and 2 little blankets for the SPCA.  And I hate pink now!   Grin

Another productive weekend...

No one in my family is going to have a cold neck this year!  A couple more neckwarmers for the campers and hunters, a 'so-called' scarf for a cousin and a patchwork-sampler kinda scarf for my brother-in-law, the scarves are both lion jiffy from the stash on size 11's, quick and easy!

The neckwarmers are just 2x2 ribbed tubes, perfect for using up the random bits in my stash...

The checkerboard hat was a PAIN IN THE ASS.  So many little ends, lots of tangling, didn't help that it was my travel knitting, knit on planes, trains and buses.

I've seen the houndstooth in stitch dictionaries slightly different--a two row repeat, the pattern I used was a three row repeat, (six rows if you count the pearls)...really easy, this would have been much better as travel knitting!

This is what I was going for, but I don't think this one is actually knit so I called it close enough.

I thought I'd been making good progress with the stash busting, until a friend sent me a huge box of what used to be his mother's stash...two steps forward, one step back...

made a couple fun purple boas...one for my sister and one for a friend's six year old daughter...

A slip stitch almost houndstooth scarf for a birthday boy, a neck warmer for my all seasons camping boy scout cousin and a checkerboard hat that hasn't found a home yet...I used up so many little ends on that one!

I think I'm finally making progress in my stash!

This hat is based on Knitty Gritty's "spaghetti hat"  didn't actually see the episode but they have the patterns on their website.

Low on yarn consumption but high on cuteness!

For a friends baby, to match an orange sweater I made from the same yarn...it was so obvious, not sure why it took me so long to figure out, guess it had to be the season for it first Smiley

A cute little pair of booties, the pattern is from Knit Baby Head to Toe.  The yarn is from my stash, naturally!  It's left over from an Anouk I made a couple years back, I forget the brand, but it's super soft, Pima Tencel...so that makes it cotton I think?  Delightful yarn to work with, in any event.

Just a little more stash busting...a purl ridge hat from some random acrylic bits and a scarf from a bunch of fuzzy stuff I had around...

Finished this guy last week, it's Bert...the other half of the 'bert & ernie' set last week, my friends were delighted with the hats, despite the fact that they might cause seizures with that tie dye Smiley

It's just some generic wool-ease sorta stuff I had in the stash, loosely based on knittys tychus--short rows.  Pretty easy, knit up in just a couple hours.

my latest attempt at stash busting...I've got a loft storage space in my newly remodeled apartment, ikea to the rescue with a cheap metal ladder, stash to the rescue with ladder padding to save the wall from further damage (yes, this was a lesson learned the hard way!)
