11  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Layer Cake Sampler Quilt Along on: April 04, 2014 10:22:40 AM
Is anyone else doing the Layer Cake Sampler Quilt Along with Material Girl Quilts?
12  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Oregon Trail & Back to the Future Hoops on: April 01, 2014 06:13:12 PM
I made these two pieces for a craft swap partner. I love both Oregon Trail and Back to the Future, so they just had to be made!

13  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Harlequin Hoodie/Cowl on: January 24, 2014 05:04:45 PM
I made this Harlequin Hoodie/Cowl (ravelry pattern link) for a swap partner. It was fun to make, and fits her well. Smiley

14  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ripple Baby Blanket on: January 15, 2014 11:12:34 AM
I started this Crocheted Ripple Baby Blanket a few days before Christmas, and it's finally done.

I followed this ripple blanket pattern, but used this site for the color change patterning. It ended up being about 33" x 33". This one is a gift for a woman my husband works with, and I'm a little sad to see it go. I thought about making one for my daughter-to-be, but it took so long that I'm going to put it off for now so I can focus on other projects first.

15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / 2013 Woodland Sampler on: January 06, 2014 01:59:08 PM
I finished stitching up my 2013 Woodland Sampler last night. I'll be starting a new 2014 sampler (fairy tale themed) this weekend, and the stitching will be spread out over the whole year (a new part of the pattern is sent to you each month). If anyone wants to stitch it up "with" me, you can get the pattern here.

16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Christmas on Gingerbread Lane on: December 23, 2013 04:28:19 PM
I just finished my Christmas on Gingerbread Lane from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. This is super cute and was a lot of fun stitch up. Even my 2-year-old was excited to see it get stitched up. He kept telling me, "Mommy, make your house!"

17  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / What is your go-to solids line? on: December 11, 2013 01:40:54 PM
It's a lot easier (and cheaper) to buy fabric online than it is for me to go to a quilt store. I know there are a few well-liked solids lines, but I don't know what the differences are between them. I also know that I could go into a quilt shop to check them out, but I'm new to quilting and don't really know what I like yet or what to look for in quality fabric.

I'm asking a lot of questions here, but I'd love to pick your brain:
What is your go-to solids fabric line? What do you like about it over the others available? What have your experiences with different lines been? Lastly, do you think buying a color card is worth it?
18  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Premium Cotton vs. Brushed Cotton? on: December 09, 2013 05:01:51 PM
I'm looking at some fabric for a quilt, and there are two fabric choices for the line I want - regular premium cotton and brushed cotton. The brushed cotton is more expensive, so I'm guessing it's supposed to be better.

What is the difference between the two? Which would you recommend?
19  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Countdown to Christmas Advent Calendar on: December 06, 2013 02:32:44 PM
I just finished my first ever machine quilted project! I participated in a Quilt-Along on BetterOffThread - http://betteroffthread.com/2013/11/24/countdown-to-christmas-quilt-along-link-up-and-prizes/. I even won something!

I had a few issues with my pocket fabric being a little bunched up (I used inexpensive fabric - don't know if that was part of the problem), and that affected my ability to line everything up properly. I just did straight-line quilting, and my quilting lines are a little wonky because the pockets don't line up perfectly. Overall, I'm really happy with the end result, and my son also loves all the fun winter activities stuffed inside.

I have a few more quilted projects planned now. I'm hoping to make two quilted tree skirts (one for me and one for my mom). I would also like to make a tumbler quilt for my little girl that is due in March. Hopefully the piecing and quilting will go better on those!
