1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / American Flag Cardboard Wreath on: November 15, 2013 01:05:10 PM

Here's a tutorial for a simple American Flag wreath from cardboard and tissue paper. We made this one for Veterans Day, but it would be great for any patriotic holiday. This project is so cheap and simple! Everyone has a cardboard box laying around the house, and I got the tissue paper from the dollar store!

Cardboard Box
Tissue Paper (red, white, and blue)
Glue (any type is fine)
First take a box and cute out a large circle with a small hole in the middle. The size is completely up to how large you want the wreath to be. This one has around a 16 inch diameter.

Next cut out small pieces of tissue paper anywhere from 1inch x 1inch to 2inches x 2inches. They don't have to be perfect.

Now draw out the lines of the flag and circles for where you would like the strips to be.
You can use any type of glue. I just smeared liquid Elmer's glue on the cardboard surface that I wanted to cover with tissue paper.
Once the cardboard has been covered with glue, use a pen to glue the middle of the tissue paper to the cardboard in the design you drew.

When you're done, you will have a vibrant wreath that will stand out on any door! This would be easy to do with different colors for seasons and events. It would be cute in different pinks and blues for a baby shower.

Card Board Boom Box

Card Board Box
Duct tape
Clear tape
Razor knife (optional)

1. Decide how wide/deep you want your boom box and cut the box at that point all the way around

2. Cut the back portion of the box to the same width/depth

3. While it is still flat find a picture of a boom box online and draw on your design (we used plates and the tape rolls to make perfect circles for the speakers)

4. Cut the handle out by deciding how wide you want it and cutting this [ up into it and cutting a hole into that (see picture)

5.Tape the sides together on the piece you drew your boom box on use duct tape on the inside and clear tape on the outside for a nicer finish

6. If you want a little radio to fit into your boom box use the scrap cardboard to make a harness for your radio to slip into on the back of the piece you drew your boom box on(make sure not to cover the speakers) See pictures for better idea on this one

7. Cut the larger side flap off your back piece the one without the drawing on it (there should be three flaps the two short ones that meet in the middle and the long one that cover both of the smaller ones that is the one you want to cut)

8. Use this leftover cardboard to make a few more handles by placing them behind the handle and drawing out an outline and cutting out the pattern

9. Tape the new reinforced handle together (we used three reinforcements for a total of four pieces of cardboard as the radio is a little heavy)

10. Now you can cut holes in the side of the box all the way through the layers so that the sound comes out from the radio (if your speakers face towards the top of the box cut holes there instead of in the side)

11. Turn your radio on and slip it inside the harness

12. Push the back piece into the front piece and enjoy your new boom box

Coments and criticism welcome!  Happy Crafting.
