1  Re: Mug Rug and Mug Swap GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by Zalphinian on: March 10, 2019 03:01:25 PM
Ugh, has it ever been a busy week! I had a cousin in out State Basketball Playoffs, and that meant traveling to and from the OKC area (about 2 hours away) each night to cheer her and her team on. They came in second overall, only losing by 4 points in the final. It was a bit of a heartbreaking game, but all of the girls played their hearts out.

Now that that craziness is over though, I have the time and energy to share the awesome package I received from Calabaza!

Now, our cabinets are already full of mugs, cups, etc, so I requested an alternate vessel. I could not be happier with what I got either! That little mini-tackle box (I'm a fisherwoman, so they're all tackle boxes to me), is just too cool! I do have a problem with it though. I'm not sure if it's going to end up containing items for paper crafting, sewing, embroidery, or what just yet! It's going to be a fun thing to figure out though.

That huckleberry tea? It's delicious! I've made myself a few cups already, and I have found I like it with and without cream. It's just yummy no matter how I fix it. I haven't had a chance to try the gummy bears yet, but I'm really looking forward to when I do. Thanks to my husband and his family from Germany and their care packages, I re-discovered this tasty childhood treat, and I've been hooked! No way my partner could have known that, but it just makes it that more amazing she sent such a tasty treat! I have however been enjoying the mints. The air could get a bit dry in the gymnasiums. and they helped to make me feel a little more hydrated, at least in my mouth.

Now, the mug rug! I don't even want to think about how she managed to sew those little flamingo's on there.... But I'm glad she did, because look!

It's reversible! Now, it did look a lot better before I put in on the blanket to get a picture. Sadly super comfy blanket is also fuzzy, and that really showed against the black. I still love it to pieces though because Flamingos Are Awesome!

2  Re: Welcome To Night Vale Swap in The Swap Gallery by Zalphinian on: June 06, 2015 12:22:53 AM
Okay, here *finally* are the awesome things my partner PerfectlyBohemian sent!

First off, a few (additional) views of the absolutely amazing Hiram McDaniel's!

The little heads are just so gosh darn cute! Now, the Glow Cloud (all hail!) sent a few presents as well in 'transit' that attempted to knock out a few of Hiram's horns, but Hiram was not so easily thwarted.

My sweet partner also seems to have spoken with the Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives in Your Home, and thus was able to acquire and share with me some of the following charms which will be incorporated into jewelry my boyfriend makes.

Finally as far as gifts go, I also received a lovely mug rug that is just outstanding in my eyes. :-) I'm not sure if you can make out the details, but it depicts a mountain (which is not real), the Arby's, and our very own Night Vale Community Radio station.

The action shot:

I should also include that I received my absolutely favorite card I've ever been sent in a swap to date.

Flamingo! How could I not love that? It's practically a city council mandated lawn decoration.  Wink

3  My First Scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by Zalphinian on: February 09, 2015 03:27:11 PM
So, my boyfriend is from Arizona but now he's living in Oklahoma. That means sometimes it gets really cold here, and he's just not adapted for our winters at all. Since I took up knitting last year about this time, I offered in the fall to make him a scarf if he was interested. He accepted my offer so I let him pick out the yard I'd use and I got to work on his special request for an extra long scarf. Below is the result.

I finally got my bookmark from my partner zigg13pra after some delays thanks to the US Postal Service. Would have posted it earlier but had a busy weekend followed by a bout of food poisoning to start the week. All better now though.

I adore it! The different greens (my favorite color) really work well together.

Okay, so I'm a day later than I intended, but RL came up in a major way... Anyway, her's the bookmark I made for my partner Zigg13pra.

First side is very orange, as my partner said she loved the color.

Sinced the quote is a bit blurry, I'll post it here: "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"- Albus Dumbledore

On the other side, my partner (when poked) said she was a fan of RavenClaw, so I have their house colors of blue and bronze (again, hard to tell in the picture) along with the symbol for the Deathly Hallows.

Such beautiful bookmarks! The drawing is really amazing in both of these, and I squee'd a little at the Thud quote.  Wink

But there is more to share! My bookmark arrived today from AugustBell and it is so very pretty. Smiley

I love the greens for the background, and the flowers are so neat! The different textures are a lot of fun. Reminds me of the wildflowers growing in my grandparents hay fields.

7  Re: WWP Round 52 Mabon Swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Zalphinian on: September 11, 2014 04:36:12 PM
Okay, so I am so excited to show this off! Kaitibeeps did a wonderful job and I'm sure you'll all agree with me on that. Smiley

I love the little bits of color dots, and the trinity knot is so pretty. Of the three 'dangles,' I can't decide which is my favorite.

Isn't the back messege sweet? The bird is gorgeous from the back as well as the front as well.

8  Re: Paper and Ephemera Swap Round 10 Gallery - Send-out Nov. 18 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Zalphinian on: November 18, 2013 11:53:59 PM
To start with, the adorable little card that OnyxNox sent along with her package:

Next, a collection of stamps and old post cards.

Vintage letters and cards! These are so very beautiful and amazing!

Old pages from books and magazines. She's right, some of the pictures and ads are beautiful in image and word.

There are some gorgous old magazine pages and some adorable stickers.

For the record, I love this map! It was one of my favorite items in the whole package, which is saying a lot considering how much I love just about everything in this one.

At this point I'm realizing I have over 20 pictures in my attempt to show everything. I'm not sure everyone want's to see all of that, so I'm going to start giving highlights. If I was wrong and others want to see every little thing, I'll happily go back and post more.

Kitty Ribbon!!! OnyxNox really took me at my word that I loved and adored cats.

Tiny happy kitty statues! These are really, really small! I really can not stress that enough. When I saw them for the first time, there may or may not have been squeeing to be heared.

I'm really looking forward to the fact that my boyfriend will be using the tiny little cat embellishment under the Hello Kitty tin (too cute!) to make me a necklace. I'll have to share what he does once it's done. Though it probably won't be until his classes let out for the semester.
I should also note those stickers arrived on a day when I was really not feeling well and in a lot of pain. Their messages were very timely and helped to perk me up.

With this last image, I'm thinking I'll have to make a scene with these embellishments. Not sure what all will be in said scene, but it's going to be a lot of fun playing around until I find something cute and amusing.

9  Re: Inchie House Swap - Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Zalphinian on: September 25, 2013 10:13:46 PM
Sorry all about the delay. It seems the (I'm possative) beautiful and utterly amazing house KosmicGirl sent me has gotten lost somewhere in the abyss of US Customs. I'm still holding out hope that someday it will magically appear in my mail box, but until that time Loves2Experiment graciously stepped in and sent me one of her extra's, so we wouldn't have to deal with the issue's that sometimes arise from international shipping. KosmicGirl was 100% ready to send out a second house though, for which I can not say I'm anything less than grateful. So a big thank you to both ladies for their willingness to step up when there was a bit of a hiccup.

Got the house almost a week ago, got it glued together, then just kept forgetting to get the darn pictures while it was still daylight out! Unfortunately daylight was needed because without it the pictures just came out way to dark.

Now, on to the house!

As you can see, this is one of the Emily Dickenson houses. She is one of my favorite poet's so this works out nicely.

You have to love the cute little door and the little house numbers.

This particular quote is fitting. I've had to move a lot, and it's always amazed me how quickly a place I moved too starts to feel like home. So many people seem to take forever to build that level of connection and just plain homeiness, but for me a place to lay my head is just about all I need.

Adorable little flags!

Okay, I think I've finally figured this all out. So, Im starting with my first house to receive, the one from Teag, which I think of as my little mini castle. Smiley

When I first opened my envelope, this is what awaited me. Isnt the holder just ingenious?

Heres what the house looks like when completed. Arent the front door and little window just adorable?

I love the little picture frames she put in for windows on each side. Totally made my day when I saw those!

Finally theres the back of the house and another one of those awesome handmade windows.

Next we move on to the house made my Allwaysinmyroom. Surprise, surprise, I loved it! Its got a nice little sea side theme. First, she made me this pretty little case to protect the house in the mail.

Next we have a close up of the sea shell walk way she made. Yes, those are real sea shells. How cool is that?!

Heres the front of the house once its all assembled. Isnt it gorgeous?

Heres what the right side looks like. Notice the awesome wave roof she made? I thought that was a perfect addition.

Yes thats another real sea shell. I also want to point out the hand painted scallop edging.

I have to say this is my favorite side. Why is that? Its because I simply adore watching Koi swim around in their pond. Its so serene, and I love having that incorporated into the house. Its like Alwaysinmyroom is psychic!
