1  Re: Pumpkin Everything Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by bywilma on: September 20, 2017 08:59:12 AM
Yay, I received! And I got spoiled by Alwaysinmyroom! Here are all the goodies:

First I got these really beautiful crocheted pumpkins. They are so cute and well made! I love the curly fines on them (is that how you call those?)

I also got this ornament with the cutest pumpkin fabric and the words 'everything pumpkin' embroidered on two of the pumpkins.

I absolutely love these gift tags and my son already claimed some of the pencils. They are now magic wands and he turns everyone into monsters. Cheesy

If I say I got spoiled, I really mean I got spoiled! This small quilted table cloth is made with the most beautiful pumpkin fabric!

And last but not least I got these delicious threats. I never knew I would like roasted pumpkin seeds. I promise I will not trow them away the next time I make something with pumpkin.  Grin

Thank you so much Alwaysinmyroom! I feel so spoiled!

2  Re: Adult Merit Badge Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by bywilma on: September 15, 2017 10:13:36 AM
Oh wow, I just received my package from Fatewineroses and it's sooooo pretty!

Here are both badges together:

Aren't they pretty?

This is my Tea Queen badge. I absolutely love tea and I drink a lot of it. I also have a collection of teacups and teapots. So this is perfect for me. I also love how she put the text Tea Queen in the steam. I also think the shape of this badge is perfect for a queen Wink I was wondering, did you use tea to color the fabric?

I looooove this one, so much! This Happy Camper badge is my favorite out of the two. We own a restyled caravan from the late 1980's. We did the work last year and we had our first camping trip with it this year.

Thank you so much Fatewineroses! I love them both so much. You are so talented!

3  Re: Mini 12 Days of Christmas 2017 (sign up 7/18 to 8/4/17; s/o 11-25-17) in ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED by bywilma on: August 19, 2017 12:00:36 AM
I live in the Netherlands and we don't celebrate Christmas with stockings, gifts and Santa as much as in the rest of the world. That's because we have Sinterklaas. We put our shoes in front of the fireplace or at the front door and we get pepernoten (bitesize Dutch cookies) candy and chocolate in them. If we were really lucky we got a small gift too. On December 5th we get bigger gifts. It all comes in a large burlap bag and Sinterklaas brings them with his horse who walks on roofs.

When we stopped believing in Sinterklaas we started to make Sinterklaas surprises and Sinterklaas poems for our gifts to eachother. A Sinterklaas suprise is a crafted item that contains a gift. The crafted item should be something related to Sinterklaas or to the receiver of the gift. This is my favorite part of Sinterklaas. We celebrate Sinterklaas with my family and me and my boyfriend are really fanatic when it comes to this. We made things like a dr Who Tardis for my sister, a minecraft lamp for my youngest brother and a house with a bike store for my other brother.

My brother now really has a bike store (back then he was just selling them out of his home) and he used the name and logo from our Sinterklaas surprise for his real store.

As for Christmas we always went to church and my brother (the one from the bike store) celebrates his birthday.

4  Red riding hood and the huntsman, Batman, and some kind of evil monk in Costumes: Completed Projects by bywilma on: August 10, 2017 11:24:00 PM
This was the second year at Castlefest for us. It's a medieval/fantasy festival in the Netherlands. This year we went as red riding hood and the huntsman and our son went as Batman. Totally unrelated, I know, but I just make him the costume he wants (as long as it's apropriate for Castlefest of course). He is a big fan of super heroes, so Batman was a logical choice for him.

Here are the three of us together.

Me and my boyfriend.

Some action shots of Batman. He took his role very serious.

With serious I mean really, really serious.

I also made this costume for a friend of us. The orb on the stick glows when it's getting dark. It's made with a solar light for the garden.

Thanks for looking!

Yay! I received this beautiful package from Mlsocci74!

First up are these beautiful feather ornaments. I got about 25 of them! They are made with glitter paper and super pretty!

This is my favorite item: a garland with peace signs. I love how it looks in my garden but unfortunately we have way to much rain here in the Netherlands to leave them outside.

I also got two extra peace signs. I'm sure I will find something I can do with them!

Thank you Mlsocci74! I love it all!

6  Wizard glowing orb and necklace in Completed Projects by bywilma on: July 07, 2017 04:37:00 AM
This August we are going to a fantasy festival here in the Netherlands called Castlefest. And if course I am the one responsible for the costumes. This is part of my first costume (I will post a complete costume picture when he comes for a fitting). My friend wanted to be a wizzard with a monk-like robe and a large wand with a glowing orb. The whole costume cost me about 30 Euro and 1,5 days of work.

I think the pictures really don't do it justice but this is the wand. I made it wit a solar garden lamp so it glows when the night falls. I made it so that you can still remove the battery if it's needed. I used a stick I found in the woods for the base. To create the top I used craft foam with metal wire wrapped in aluminum foil. I glued it with a hot glue gun on the stick. I layered all the aluminium foil with hot glue. Crazy, I know, but it works like  a charm. I also used the glue gun for the details on the lamp. After that I painted it black, rub'n buffed the whole thing and I added some moss. I really love how it turned out!

This is the necklace. It's about 8 cm large. I made it with Fimo and, of course, rub'n buff.
