21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Kawaii Fruits-esque/Nautical Fun Tops! =D on: March 27, 2006 10:32:29 PM
And so this is the result of boredom + the urge to be creative on a quite bland 2 week holiday!  Grin

Ignore the peace sign, I was feeling sheepish & dorky  Cheesy
*note the frilling wasn't on purpose! somehow it just started to gather and frill*

Crossover Back

The Red One! *lighting looks horrrible - darn that 70's yellow lighting!*

Laying Flat

I made them both from XXL jersey stretch-tee shirts and some looovvely anchor & wheel print cotton I found at trash & treasure markets. Thinking of selling them (as it's totally weather inappropriate, tis winter in Australia), but I just love them too much!

22  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Buying perspex and getting it cut? on: March 21, 2006 04:07:30 PM
Hey guys!
I really really really want to make a replica of this Luella Heart belt

but I wasn't sure where I could find the materials or the tools to cut them

any ideas?
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Reconn'd Lee Cutoffs to Cute Eyelet Mini &a screen printed tee! on: March 12, 2006 10:04:32 PM
grr stupid dial up internet disconnected one me  Undecided

I had a pair of Lee jeans, which in the Summer were reconstructed into cuffed shorts

Then when I went op-shop-hopping I found some great off-white eyelet material
so I ruffled some of it up to make a kind of ra-ra skirt!

A bit weather inappropriate since it's Winter now in Australia! But I guess I can wear this with tights or something  Grin

and during Art class last year we got to screenprint our own handstencilled designs onto Bonds t-shirts & this one's mine!

I took my inspiration from John Mayer's song '3x5'
"today...skies are painted colours of a cowboy cliche"

24  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Chloe S/S 06 Pinafore! on: March 11, 2006 12:10:43 AM

& I really liked this one at Chloe

am I right in thinking it's basically just a circle skirt with straps + buttons?  Huh
looks pretty simple but I'm holding out for some suggestions before cutting up any material  Cheesy

25  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Polka Dotted Pencilcase with a Strawberry 'A'! on: January 28, 2006 10:37:13 PM

ack! it got resized
anyway click here

school's just around the corner and I thought I'd make myself a new personalised pencilcase! complete with strawberry lettering  Grin
now I can finally fit everything - i always borrowed glue and scissors and rulers and staplers + staples and rubbers and ... basically anything I couldn't fit into my tiny pencil tin.
too bad I couldn't find one of those nifty invisible zips, I only had really chunky heavy zips at home  Undecided

26  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Regina Spektor's 'Us' video Jacket on: January 28, 2006 10:32:40 PM
hey craftsters!
i was watching regina spektors new video 'us' (amazing artist btw - check her out!)
and i just loved the jacket she wore (minus the no-elbows part of it) and was thinking of trying to recreate it!   Grin

and I was wondering if anybody could offer help/advice/tips/suggestions (heh, all those words kinda mean the same thing don't they?) on how to go about making a jacket?

oh and if anyone can explain darts in full and how to make them that'd be great too!

27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Holidays + Me = Sewing FRENZY! a skirt, a dress and a top! =] on: January 20, 2006 12:59:26 AM
1. 2.

1. Recon'd blue slacks to pleated mini
2. Ruched (sp?) tartan bustier looking top thing Cheesy
3. Striped separates XD

my photographing skills are quite poor - there is a realllyreallyreally tall stack of books on my desk because I kept trying to get the right height for the camera timer  Grin
hmm I should probably put them backon the shelf - they look dangerously wobbbly

28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Assymetrical Laced-up Corset-style Top *phew what a mouthful* on: December 30, 2005 07:33:54 PM
I made this top using lemonadelemonade's tutorial here
With some checkeredish/tartan stretch stuff and brown satin ribbon! I'm still undecided about the lacing up ribbon colour... In the photos its a gold-edged white satin, but I think a pale pink or darker chocolate brown would suit better... What do you think?  Huh

looklook! in the corner! There's a little lost CareBear!

Thanks for checkin' in!  Grin
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sailor-esque Summer Dress! [with semi-tutorial] on: December 20, 2005 03:59:29 AM
I was bored on the weekend,
and knew I didn't really have anything 'new-ish' to wear on the last day of school

so I made this to wear! ^_^

and I got many lovely comments on it ~
I was at Melbourne Central (like a huge shopping center, for those not located in Australia) in the city and two girls -they were like 20- came up and said they really liked my dress and asked where I got it from! they actually thought it was store bought
they were tres impressed when I told them I made it myself ~ it was so cool Tongue
wow, this is probably not good for my ego, but anyway Tongue

and I just had to post the polaroid I took of the shoes we wore that day XD

Edit: ack! almost forgot the tutorial

30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 70's Style Polka Dot Dress! *** scanned pattern added! *** on: December 16, 2005 12:53:34 PM
So, last week, my brother graduated from UNSW (Uni of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia etc..) He studied medicine and he is now a Doctor!  yayyyy  Grin

For the occasion I made this dress

I accesorised with a belt, it falls quite flat and shapeless without, and a string of beads

(I was staying at a family friend's house in Sydney, as we had to take a plane in from Melbourne)
The room had a ceiling-to-floor length wardrobe mirror (i want one!) but the bed kinda cut off part of the dress if I stood up  Cheesy

I found a vintage pattern in an op-shop for like 50c. Its double breasted, but the buttons you see are fake, it really fastens with three push buttons. hehe tres sneaky
