1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Have ears...will travel to Disney on: March 23, 2018 11:56:10 AM
My daughter is going to Disney with her high school marching band and asked me to make her some music-themed flower headband ears.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Busy weekend on: February 27, 2018 11:18:37 AM

This was a test run on this pouch.  I'm going to get some cute Disney fabric and make my daughters each a travel first aid kit for their upcoming trip to Disney with their high school band.

Cosmetic bag made from a quilted placemat.

My daughter asked for a pencil pouch, so I used my pattern for the small pouch and made a bigger one.

Here are the first batch of chapstick holders I made.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Girafficorn on: February 21, 2018 12:12:02 PM
I'm fairly new to sewing and have been working on a memory quilt but wanted to try my hand at a bear...so last week, I made my first memory bear and my oldest daughter quickly claimed it.  My youngest looked through my patterns and found one for a giraffe.  That's the one she wanted.  She picked out the material and I got to work.  As I was completing the head, I thought it would be cool to add a unicorn horn...so the Girafficorn was born. lol  Cheesy
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Fidget Quilt on: October 13, 2017 05:51:47 AM
I made this for my mom's coworkers mom who is in the nursing home with dementia.  My mom said she loves to sit and play with it.  I heard her therapy nurse just loves it.  I made one for my grandmother months ago but she doesn't like it, she would rather hold your hand  Smiley

I love all of these fabrics.  I bought them all at either thrift stores or garage sales, with this purpose in mind.  The little fabric flowers are from a project I did years ago when I was bow-making.  The jean pocket is from a pair of thrift store kids jeans that I bought because I liked the pockets, though I wasn't sure what I was going to use them for lol.  The zipper was me practicing those tabs on the ends.  And and I have a huge container full of random buttons that I bought long before I learned to sew, so I thought it would be great to use them as a sensory item.  The big heart button kind of runs on the track of the strap I made on the block, similar to the wooden beads.

My mom is urging me to make more of these....cause you know...with three teenagers, a full time job, a little vinyl side-hussle in my "spare time" and other little random projects people have me do, like memory quilts, I have all of the time in the world lolol  Grin

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Rifle/Sabre Bag on: October 12, 2017 07:25:36 AM
My daughter is in colorguard and I made her this bag to carry her equipment during marching season.  I made a second one, which she also liked and I think she will use during winterguard.  I moved the top part of the strap up, closer to the top and it makes carrying easier. I like the construction of the second one better but this one is cute and still functions well.

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Cat in the Hat baby blanket on: October 12, 2017 05:47:10 AM
I made this for my cousins baby.  I chose this one because at her shower, they asked for books instead of cards.  So I thought this would be a perfect pairing with Dr. Seuss books.

This was my second ever quilt and I had a lot of fun making it.

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Ornaments | Project Share on: October 09, 2017 12:21:02 PM
I spent this past weekend working on ornaments.  Here are a few completed ones.  I have tons more glittered and ready for decorations and some others that are completed as well.  The bottom two are our high school colors and mascot.

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Tetris Throw on: September 27, 2017 07:34:45 AM
I made this for my dad in the spring.

I'm currently finishing up an 8 bit throwback throw that I can't wait to share  Wink

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Wall Quilt on: September 11, 2017 12:03:40 PM
My very first quilting project was a poor little fidget quilt a made for my then 91 year old grandmother who has dementia.  Though her hands must always stay busy, she didn't want to play with it...she wanted to put it on the wall.  The little quilt itself was rather ugly, made out of cheap ugly fabric..it was my very second completed sewing project EVER.  But it did NOT belong on the wall.

But...I decided I would make something that would.  She now had a blank wall where my grandfather and aunts pictures once hung, only they had long passed and it pained her too much to have them up.  I left her house and went straight to the fabric store!

So this was my first actual quilt.  Roughly 36 x 36 wall quilt now hangs on my 92 year old grandmothers wall.  I saw a picture of this on Pinterest and drew a pattern.  It was my first go at free motion quilting and handing minding, also.

I am quite proud of this!

10  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / What got you started??? on: September 11, 2017 10:58:25 AM
What was your first clay project?  What got you interested in it?

I have never really had an interest but lately have been thinking of trying my hand at (simple) polymer clay charms.  I am just curious how others got started in it.
